*Review* OG It Seams Perfect!

Our Generation "It Seams Perfect!" set
Emily finds the new set which is $29.99 at Target

A closer look and there it is a pattern to make a real doll dress and it comes with enough fabric.

The set out of the box.  The Dress form comes in two pieces, but it pops together and is very sturdy.  It looks to be the size for an 18" doll.  It is all hard plastic.

Isabelle takes over, she is the seamstress in the family.

Isabelle tests the chair fit and how easily she can get comfortable, The whole set is plastic.

Isabelle can reach the sewing machine and starts trying it out, the handle makes the needle go up and down.

Emily wants to help, she can cut out the pattern. The scissors are bigger then previous sets and they open and close.

Combining the previous OG sewing set and this one, Isabelle has plenty of sewing items.  Notice the older machine can fit the table, it is exactly like the newer set except for the color.

A closer look at all the pieces together.

Over all this is set is very nice and I do not think it will last on the shelf long enough to be a sale item.  They only thing I would have liked for it to have is the table drawers to open and for the table to be a sturdy/heavy plastic.

Love this set.

*Review* OG Retro Shop Til You Bop + Rock and Tote

HURRAY! My store finally had this outfit in stock!
$12.99

I also got the 50s record set: Rock and Tote.
$6.99

The slip on oxford shoes are rubber, but still much cute than other OG rubber shoes. Not sure how I feel about the red scarf. I think I'll opt for a chiffon one in either pink or black.

The skirt is well made, I love the embroidered poodle. It's nice that the rick rack goes all around.

The attached netted crinoline won't be enough to make this lightweight skirt full.

The 45 single song records are creative and realistic. The titles and artist names are so cute and well thought. Love the name of the record label too: OG VIBE RECORDS.

I recommend both of these if you don't have them. I grabbed them while my store had stock.

My store also had one Diner in stock. I was glad I could finally see this LARGE and AMAZING "must have" in person. I wish I had room for it. Chances are Maryellen's Diner will be triple what this one costs.

*Review* My Life As...Spa Chair Playset

I just bought the My Life As....Spa Chair Playset from Walmart for $29.99.

I would love to have the American Girl one, but for this price, I am happy.

The playset includes: two fake bottles of nail polish that can open, but has no brush on the end of the stick, one foot spa with removable top, one spa towel wrap, one headband, an eye mask, spa chair and one lemonade.

The doll can actually hold the glass of lemonade. The spa chair has a seat strap and moves from a seated position to a reclining position.  For the price, this is a nice set.

My only concern was the wrap is hard to get on the doll, but does fits nicely when on.  I will probably unstitch one strap and sew on Velcro.

This playset does not contain a sink, nor does it make sounds as the American Girl Spa set does.

*Review* Clementine's Winter (Novel)

 Clementine's Winter

Clementine Harper is 12 and learning to tap dance at Madame Pearl's Stage School in Finchley when war breaks out. As the air raids start to hit London, she and her two younger brothers, Ronnie and Ernie, are evacuated. Arriving in a tiny Devon village, they're sent to live with an eccentric widow who lives in a drafty mansion in the middle of wintry woods. Clementine is thrilled to meet another fish out of water - Giesele, a sophisticated Jewish girl, who has escaped from Nazi Germany and they become soul mates immediately. Giesele's parents are still in hiding in Berlin and her sister Klara has gone missing. If only they could help somehow. The girls are enlisted by the local Girl Guides who, they soon find out, are training to do SO much more than bake cakes and tie knots. They're asked to help put on a Christmas show for the American soldiers at the military base nearby. But the show is a cover for a very secret mission, and the girls' lives are soon filled with mystery and adventure.

Here is a guest review by Amber Banister of Clementine's book, Clementine's Winter.

I read 'Clementine's Winter' by Sandra Goldbacher about a month ago. For those not familiar, Clementine is the third doll in the family line from A Girl for All Time. Clementine is from the 1940's and she is 12 years old when she has to be evacuated to the London Countryside due to the Air Raids from WWII. The story starts with Clementine and her two younger brother's on a train ride from London to Devon Village. They are the last to be taken by a family because Clem is determined not to split them up. At school, Clementine makes an unlikely friend in Giesele, who is a German Jew who barely made it out of Berlin on a kindertransport. Giesele and her sister had been separated so Giesele is all alone. The two girls become fast friends.
Clem turns 13 and inherits the Marchmont Trunk, which has been handed down since Matilda, Your Tudor Girl, and the first doll in this story line. The family history about the trunk, is all that inherit it must add something of importance inside for the next generation. Clem is unsure what she will be able to add or if anything in her life is that important. Soon the girls are given a mission by the girl guides and American GIs to try and find a German spy at a nearby base, after intelligence shows there is a spy in the area. After all who would suspect children?

This book is very well written. All three books available at this time are well written and have a good story line. Matilda's Secret was my favorite cause it's hard to beat Henry the VIII's court. After reading 'Clementine's Winter' I believe it's my new favorite because I have younger children and I can read this book to them sooner. The book cover feels like velvet. I love it and think it's super nice and works well with the artwork.
This book is also set in the 1940s WWII which is one of my favorite time periods since it shows how everyone came together to help in a time of need, something that you really don't see anymore. I'm a huge Gone With the Wind fan and loved when in this book it says Mr. Carter favors Clark Gable. I won't go into anymore detail because this book is a mystery with a twist ending. If you haven't bought this book yet get over to A Girl for All Time® and order away!

*NEWS* Maryellen, BF Mini Dolls and OG Retro

*We interrupt this blog for a special bulletin*
Hi guys!

 Link
It's a hot summer and everyone is ANXIOUS for Maryellen's debut. I'm going to do my best to answer several people who have asked similar questions.

  1. Yes, I saw the publishers catalog photos of 18" Maryellen doll with her accessories. I have also seen both the mini doll and 18" doll for sale on the secondary market. I can not post the images.
  2. There have been RUMORS for quite some time about her collection : Seaside Dinerbicycle, a dachshund- named Scooter, a jukebox, several outfits we've seen leaked already on secondary market, retro TV, and a special edition mini doll. I can not confirm the rumor from July 2014 about a camper/airstream.
  3. I have heard the RUMOR about Maryellen having a weak leg from having had polio, I can not confirm this. Rumors spread like WILDFIRE just prior to a doll's debut.
  4. Yes, I have seen the BF mini dolls listed for sale on secondary market.
  5. Yes, I have seen the rumored GOTY16 mini and the 18" version of her dress. Some people have already purchased the dress from the secondary market.
  6. I have seen photos of the new $11.99 "Lori" mini doll by OG named Naomi, $24.99 retro car and $34.99 retro trailer from OG. They have not been stocked in my store yet, if anyone has photos of the new OG items, email them for an in store report.
In just three weeks all of these interesting Maryellen questions will be answered. Hope you're having a great summer!

*REVIEW* Comparison - Disney and A Girl for All Time

It seems just about everyone who collects historical dolls, loves all of the costumes made by A Girl for All Time. I can tell you firsthand they are beautifully made and owning them is like owning a custom treasure.

For those of you considering adding A Girl for All Time to your collection, here is another comparison to help you get an idea of how they are made and the size/proportions.

We all know Disney Princess dolls are slim 16" hard plastic bodied dolls. There ARE even differences within this brand, but for the sake of this comparison I'll show you side by side how they differ from AGAT.

Disney Toddler Princesses are 14" and have softer vinyl you can squeeze. They have skinny arms and round bellies.

Disney Animator Collection Dolls are 16" and have slightly fuller limbs, and a rounded belly. The vinyl is a bit more dense, but still squeezable.

A Girl for All Time have articulated bodies made of sturdier vinyl. They look like porcelain, but are dense vinyl you can not squeeze.

There is SO MUCH difference here, a picture is worth a thousand words! Clementine is built like a girl, the Disney dolls are built like toddlers and younger children with over sized heads.

 The clothes do not fit!
Clementine is wearing Merida's dress and it is too short and too tight in the bodice. Merida is wearing Clementine's Land Girl outfit and it is very long (baggy). Ariel is wearing Clementine's meet dress which is way too long, but fits well around the midriff.

I hope this helps answer any questions.
