TBT - Boy Doll Transformation (Journey Girls)

Hans found a new home, but when I made his transformation it all began with JG Meredith.

He made a cute paper boy, but when I downsized he found a new home and made a great brother!

TBT - Giselle - Madame Alexander + Tips on Buying 18-inch Dolls

In 2013, I bought a Madame Alexander Friends Boutique doll who I named Giselle.

She had bendable vinyl with a chest plate and a pivoting head. Lots of gorgeous curly hair and a sweet face.

Madame Alexander website shares
Tips on buying a Madame Alexander play doll.

An 18-inch doll is not only the crown jewel of a girl's toy collection: it's also her closest & best doll friend.
Madame Alexander honors this special relationship by crafting dolls, with all the love and care in the world. We wanted this love to show in the details.

Here is why we believe Madame Alexander 18-inch dolls stack up nicely against any others and are one of the best of 18-inch dolls on the market today:

Vinyl Upper Body

Where many cloth-bodied dolls only use hard vinyl for the heads and limbs, Madame Alexander's dolls also have vinyl shoulders, chests, and upper backs, meeting the cloth body just below the breastbone.
This makes for a much more natural look when wearing open-collared tops, swimwear, and other such beautiful and detailed outfits.

A Head With Motion

Our 18-inch dolls not only can turn their heads from side to side. Their heads can also swivel up and down for a fuller and real motion.
The two axes of motion give Madame Alexander’s dolls a much wider, more natural range of head motion. And that means more realistic play for the little girls who love them.

Natural Skin Tones

We strive to make the skin tones of our 18” dolls, whatever their particular color, closely replicate the visual essence of real human skin in all its glow and hue.
We believe we're able to achieve a more human, less toy-like look for the skins of our dolls.

TBT - Nicki's Bedroom

When Nicki Fleming lived in my house, she and Chelsea shared a room. The room was located under a folding table in the corner of a spare room, that was all of the space I had at the time.

I made the beds and bedding and the dresser is a jewelry box.

TBT - GOTY 2001-02 Lindsey Bergman

I bought Lindsey at the end of 2012. She came with her helmet and scooter for a great price!

When I got her home I saw just how bad her loose limbs were. She couldn't stand on her own.

You can see her body tag does say "American Gril" the original typo.

It may say Pleasant Company on her neck, but Lindsey was released 2001. She is a Mattel doll. Only dolls made/released prior to 1998 is considered a PC doll.

Her hair was just beautiful!

Her boots remind me of Grace's boots.

Her gloves had grips on the under side to help her grip the rubber handle bars.

I had Lindsey re-strung and eventually sold her. I couldn't bond with her. I think I struggle with modern dolls because I have a love for historical dolls.

She sure is a cutie though!!

TBT - Molly's Red Bed + Nightstand, Vanity and Curl Kit

Molly's AG Bed is now retired. However it looks VERY EASY to re-create. Her bedding and matching headboard are red corduroy and her pillow is candy stripe red. I have Molly's bed, but needed one for Emily. The following photos are from Nov 2012 at my first attempt. I have since made Emily a different bed.

First attempt! I went to three different stores
(Hobby Lobby, Joann's, & Hancock Fabrics)
but could not find RED corduroy, so I bought red felt.

I couldn't find red/white candy striped cording either so I bought ribbon.

I used a piece of cardboard for the headboard.

Sleep tight Molly! Sweet dreams....

Molly’s Nightstand

When Molly’s finally ready to go to sleep, she can store all her things in this bright white, wooden nightstand with cherry red accents to match her bed. The pullout shelf and drawer offer plenty of room for her favorite books, glasses, and more.

Molly’s Nighttime Necessities

Molly gets ready for bed with these accessories:

  • A hot-water bottle to keep her feet warm
  • An authentic Nancy Drew mystery book from 1944, The Quest of the Missing Map
  • A bedside lamp that really works
  • An alarm clock to help her rise and shine

Molly’s Vanity Table

While preparing to land the part of Miss Victory, Molly wants nothing more than to have beautiful, curly locks. This vanity set helps her get her wish:

  • A wooden dressing table and fabric-covered stool
  • A fabric skirt that slides open to reveal a storage drawer underneath
  • A decorative, three-panel mirror that sits on top
In Molly’s day, a permanent wave kit cost about $1.25! See all this one includes:
  • A pretend blow dryer that sounds real when switched on
  • A permanent wave box with nine perm rods, a pack of perm papers, and a perm solution bottle
  • A hair net, 24 bobby pins, two tortoiseshell hair combs, a doll-sized hairbrush, and instructions
