TBT - GOTY 2001-02 Lindsey Bergman

I bought Lindsey at the end of 2012. She came with her helmet and scooter for a great price!

When I got her home I saw just how bad her loose limbs were. She couldn't stand on her own.

You can see her body tag does say "American Gril" the original typo.

It may say Pleasant Company on her neck, but Lindsey was released 2001. She is a Mattel doll. Only dolls made/released prior to 1998 is considered a PC doll.

Her hair was just beautiful!

Her boots remind me of Grace's boots.

Her gloves had grips on the under side to help her grip the rubber handle bars.

I had Lindsey re-strung and eventually sold her. I couldn't bond with her. I think I struggle with modern dolls because I have a love for historical dolls.

She sure is a cutie though!!

  2. She looks cute. I mostly prefer modern dolls although I do like to see and learn more of the historical dolls. The 'A girl for all times' dolls are beautiful too.
Is there anywhere I can find more info on the previous GOTY dolls as I would like to know more about them. I know of the 2014 GOTY and of course Grace but nothing about the previous ones.
Maybe I could just do a Google search...

Y'Know, I'm surprised AG hasn't released any more scooters for a MAG item, (or have they?).

    1. We have the "Sporty Scooter for Dolls" see http://americangirl.wikia.com/wiki/Sporty_Scooter
Not quite the same, but maybe a little easier for kids to manage

I should have been more specific. I meant a Razor scooter, like Lindsey's.

  7. Awesome!!! Also be careful of her boots. They flake easily and can stain her feet, so make sure she's wearing socks or tights. I have Lindsey as well and I don't understand why not very many people like her, when grace is selling pretty well.

  9. Last summer I met a a person at swimming lessons with her granddaughter. The girl had her OG doll with her and so the kids struck up a conversation about AG dolls. The girls grandma told us that the girls mother has an old Samantha that she liked but couldn't play with at the time. We talked about the books being changed. Just ran into them at the park, the other day. The girls grandmother told me the granddaughter got Samantha for Christmas. She loves her, BUT not the new storybook. They check out the old AG books from the library. Even though the content of the story hasn't changed; she feels no connection because the history section is missing. The historical dolls had depth, character because of the connection to history, and the learning experience. They are more than just a doll. Even the Marie Grace and Cecile books weren't written the same way as the original historical dolls. I'm guessing that Grace's popularity is because she bakes and there is depth to that, something that kids can learn, something you can do with your parent. It isn't like dancing, skating, gymnastics. Talking about the new books, I was in Barnes and Noble and looked at the third book in the BeForever series. You start reading then you skip pages for a certain outcome to the story. So, if you want another, then have to go back and read the other pages you skipped? Wonder if that format is going over well with kids.

  10. I bought Lindsey used about a year ago. She was my first AG doll. She had different tights than yours did. Mine were striped. I think it was her book that helped me to bond with her because it was funny.

    1. Yes these were different GOT tights. Everything else was from her collection. She had such a small collection and her computer is VERY collectible.
