Glitter Girls for Christmas

Here are the Glitter Girls, as well as some of their other 18-inch doll accessories that my girls will be getting for Christmas. To compare the dolls, I put one of them beside the new My Life As skater doll that Quinn will also be receiving for Christmas.

All of these items were purchased on sale. The Glitter Girl dolls are quite lovely. I purchased three dolls (one for each of my girls) and then a little outfit for each. The regular price for the dolls is $29.95, but I got them on sale for $20 each.

All of the dolls (and the clothes) come in open boxes like the OG dolls. Their faces are quite lovely. The eyes do not close, but they are beautiful. So are the outfits—all really well made and very similar to the types of clothes girls of this age would wear. And—there’s a bit of glitter in each outfit.

This is Poppy who will be going to Brooke, as she has an affinity for redheads.

This is Keltie, who Avery had circled in the catalogue and put on her Christmas list for Santa!

And this is Fyfer, who will go to Quinn. It will be here first ‘fashion’ doll of this sort. I chose one who looked like her.

*NEWS* Glitter Girls - Chapters Indigo - Canada

Got a holiday toy catalogue in from Chapters Indigo today (which Avery promptly started a Christmas list from and which Brooke is now perusing herself!) This is the same store that sells American Girl/Wellie Wishers here in Canada. And, what should I see? Glitter Girls! They are available from Indigo and very reasonably priced at $29.99. Avery has already picked one that she would like to ask Santa for!

No Glitter Girls accessories were shown in the catalogue, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have them in store. Now that I know where to find them, I’ll have to go and see them in person! Stay tuned for more!

*NEWS* Newberry Dolls Clearanced - Sears Canada

Some news from here in Canada — Sears Canada has been slowly closing its doors for the past few months, laying off employees, shutting down stores, restructuring their business plans to avoid bankruptcy. And just today, it received permission from the courts to liquidate all assets, starting October 19.

This means that there won’t be any new Newberry dolls for this Christmas season—but the current ones should be going on sale very soon as they try to clear out the remaining stock.

We’re a little disappointed that we won’t be able to get any of our beloved Newberry accessories/dolls this Christmas—but who knows, I might be able to pick up some of the things we’re missing at a good price!

*In Store Report* Our Generation - Mastermind Toys - Canada

Went to Mastermind Toys and we saw the new dolls, including the boy (Raphael), the new accessory sets (no vet clinic or classroom or music sets--but the new car, science lab set, retro accessories and pet sets). No new outfits, however.

I also got a few photos of the Lori dolls and new accessory sets.

*International Collectors* Dolls Celebrating Canada 150 in Ottawa

If you will remember Tammy, LADL traveling doll’s trip to Canada back in January, we are celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday this summer. On July 1, all Canadians will celebrate with pride, as our country celebrates the year that our provinces came together to join the Confederation and become one nation from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Anyways, this milestone anniversary is being marked in so many wonderful ways—even 18-inch dolls have gotten into the spirit of Canada 150!

I spotted the following dolls in our Canadian Walmart just this past weekend. They are adorable in their Canada 150 jackets! They are being sold for the regular $34.99 price tag. I imagine they will only be available for a short time, as they aren’t even listed online.

Not surprising, Maplelea also has a Canada 150 outfit.

Naturally, as good Canadians do, we went to the dollar store to stock up on our Canada Day gear—and were delighted to find tiny hats, so we had to set up a pre-Canada Day photo shoot! Here Avery is with her newest dolls—Sandy and Dexter, which she purchased with her own birthday money, and Zoe—an American Girl doll that Avery’s grandmother found at a Value Village and gifted her. Don’t they look great all decked out in their red and white Strong and Free outfits?

The “Celebrate Canada” festivities start tomorrow with National Aboriginal Day and will continue until July 2, so I hope to find some more doll-related celebrations to send along! Until then—all the best.

*In Store Report* MLA - Canada

Found these while on a shopping trip to Walmart with the girls. Because they were with me, I couldn't buy anything for Easter! Regret not going back for the red and black soccer set--good for boys and girls--especially Canadians since these are our colours! ;)

Also saw the kitchen for the first time!
