Specialty DIY Dolls and Doll Rescue Makeovers

This is my OOAK Sally, (Nightmare Before Christmas) doll. She is wearing a custom Fairytales Designs dress. She is a rescued OG Hair play doll - Patience.

I got the Disney Animator Ursula doll from the Disney Store. Her  "stolen voice" shell necklace lights up and her tentacles are covered in purple sequins. They are stuffed and enable her to stand.

Here is my Lanie as Cinderella. Next to her are three little mice.  The bodice of the dress is from a BABW dress, I added butterflies and the mice are sewing on the underskirt. She is also wearing shimmering high heels. The mice are from Ikea.

*REVIEW* Jakks Pacific 18" Fancy Nancy Doll

This doll has been in my collection for a while. She was a rescue....

I love the Fancy Nancy series.

Pinterest

I would like to have a collection of her clothing.

When I got Fancy Nancy she was dressed in her purple party dress.

She's entirely made of durable vinyl, feathered brows, green/gold acrylic eyes and rooted red hair. She has purple streaks for FUN!

Anyone familiar with Fancy Nancy knows she has her own fancy wardrobe, so dressing her is fun and only limited to you imagination.

*Reader Photos* JG Doll Rescue

Dunno if this counts as a thrifty find or a rescue or what...but I was at my local consignment store and found this beautiful doll for only three dollars! She has rooted auburn hair with some wave to it, large light green eyes that do not close, and a slim 18" body with a vinyl shoulder plate.

When I took off her clothes (a rainbow plaid jumpsuit and beret) I discovered her body tags. She is a Journey Girls doll!

Her hair came as a high ponytail stuffed into the beret, but I took it down and brushed out quite a bit of tangles. She also had some minor marks and scuffs on her vinyl face and limbs, but most came off after gentle scrubbing with a warm wet washcloth, to my surprise.

There is still a tiny trace of pink lipstick in the corner of her mouth and something white on her left arm, but in my opinion, she cleaned up quite nicely. I was not able to take before photos, I'm sorry. She is Journey Girl Kelsey, but I plan to call this doll Rachel.

*Reader Photos* OG Rescue Doll Makeover

Here is Sabrina, an OG rescued doll makeover.
This seems to be all the rage now - and I am so glad - to see these 'throwaway' dolls brought back to life!

I started with Barbies about 15 years ago and probably have a few hundred stashed in drawers in my official doll room! Now I'm making over 18in dolls. This one was fun.

Makeover - Marissa Lynne Doll by Laura Ashley (Rescue)

While thrifty shopping I came across a dress form to make for only 49 cents.  I thought it would be a good photo prop.  My next find was much more exciting.  I found this Laura Ashley doll for $1.99.

She was in her meet dress with no socks, undies or shoes.  Her hair was a tangled mess.  It took me almost seven hours to comb it out.

Her hair is rooted and made of Saran, a form of plastic.

She has lined brows, sleep eyes with long curled lashes.

She originally cost about $20.00.  She is no longer in production.

She stands 17" tall.

She has a zip tie neck.

There were originally five dolls: Rebecca Louise, a brunette with hazel eyes; Alana Michelle, a darker skin brunette with brown eyes; Corinne Marie had platinum blond hair and aqua eyes, Katherine Alyse had auburn hair and green eyes and Marissa Lynn.

I love the smocking on her dress.
