LADL Closing Out the Year

This year has been CRAZY! I went through the difficult and tedious task of downsizing. I decided to keep only five dolls. And because it was too difficult for me to make the cuts myself, I let Pleasant Company choose for me. I had my mind on keeping the original trinity, but decided to keep both Felicity and Addy too.

In 1986, Pleasant T. Rowland, a former educator founded Pleasant Company which is headquartered in Middleton, Wisconsin.

1986 Molly McIntire, Kirsten Larson and Samantha Parkington were the three original American Girls that launched the collection. These dolls had a white bodies. 1991 when Felicity Merriman was released, the bodies were changed from white to match skin color.

All of my other dolls have found new homes. Most were sold, but a small portion were donated. Fortunately for me, I will always have memories and photos of my dolls right here on LADL.
LADL will continue to have a presence on AGIG and YouTube from time to time. LADL facebook is no longer, but the blog will remain as a time capsule, so please feel free to start from the beginning 2012 and read through five years of posts (whenever you have free time) by selecting on NEWER POST at the lower left of the page.

Do not forget the right side bar and top page tabs for quick reference searches. If you're on a mobile device, the right side bar can be accessed by selecting VIEW WEB VERSION.

AG Minis of Snickerdoodle Street will remain online too.

*REVIEW* Dream Dolls - Ginger Brook Hollow

April, Meg and Kathryn

If you follow Snickerdoodle Street, you may recall a feature on Ginger Brook Hollow dolls. These 17" all vinyl dolls have 9 attractive ball joints for great poseability. Unique artist face sculpts, hand painted features, and high quality easy to style hair.

Suzannah and Emmaline
Ginger Brook Hollow is a special, peaceful place. The little valley of Ginger Brook Hollow is named for the brook lined with wild ginger that runs through the middle of the hollow. The stories and dolls are from the life of the person you will first meet as Grandma Sunday. Her simple wisdom and ability to share love with others grow from her life in Ginger Brook Hollow. As her stories unfold, one at a time, you will meet the people she knows and grow to love them as she does, beginning with the seven orphan girls from the town just above the valley. Over time, you will be able to see how several generations grow and fit together.

The 17" dolls are no longer available. I recently purchased five of the seven 8" orphan dolls.

You can read the reviews on each girl.

The Lori Ballet Studio arrived!  It is awesome!

Items that come with the studio: 4 doll holders to attached to the bar so the minis can stay in position and chalk for the blackboard.

Jeanne watches the minis perform while Isabelle plays the piano.

Smilla and Jeanne are Sylvia Natterer dolls and they love their minis.

*Opening* French Macarons

I was frustrated at how my macarons were turning out....I wanted extra for Grace and preferably individual ones.

The AG macarons are clumped together.

I'm an Echo fan and when I saw she had macarons in her shop, I bought some!

She also has mini sized macarons and these will look great in mini Grace's La Patisserie.

Molly's Birthday Set

Molly’s Party Dress

Molly chooses an English tea party celebration for her 10th birthday, and she's sure to look frilly and festive in this pretty outfit that features:
  • A white party pinafore with ruffles edged in colorful rickrack trim and a sash that ties in back
  • A shiny red-and-gold party crown
  • White anklets with bright red trim

 Molly’s Birthday Set

Molly's super excited about her 10th birthday and she wants a special party. Because her English friend, Emily, will be celebrating with her, they decide that an authentic English tea party is a wonderful idea. They can have a perfectly proper—and fun—time with this set that includes:
  • A real china teapot, two real china cups, saucers, and plates all in a cheery 1940s-style red-and-white flower pattern
  • Two sets of metal silverware with white plastic handles
  • A pretend chocolate birthday cake on a platter with fancy frosting and ten removable pretend candles
  • Two colorful cloth napkins that coordinate with the china pattern

While Dad is away, Molly and her family forgo the formality of the dining room and often eat their meals in the kitchen at a cheery, cherry-red table set just like this one. The set features:
  • A 1940s diner-style metal kitchen table with rounded corners, shiny chrome trim, and a cherry-red top
  • Two curvy metal chairs with padded vinyl seats and buttons on the seat backs

Auntie Robin made mini Molly's birthday dress! I LOVE IT!

Molly's Christmas Dress and Christmas Box

Molly's Christmas Dress

At Christmastime, Molly's wish is for her dad to be home with them next year. Make the holidays merry and bright by dressing Molly in this lovely evergreen velvet dress that features:
  • A V-shaped waistline and a full circle skirt with ecru lace cuffs and collar
  • Tiny decorative buttons
  • Two cream-colored ribbons to brighten her braids

This is a reproduction dress.

Molly’s Christmas Box

Even though he's stationed overseas, Dad sends Molly these Christmas surprises in the mail:

  • The doll of Molly’s dreams dressed as a nurse in an apron, cape, and cap
  • A miniature snow globe with a little snowman inside
  • Everything comes packaged in a box with pretend stamps and tied with twine

You can follow Nurse Katherine on Snickerdoodle Street in her clinic.
