*REVIEW* Copper Coat, Winter Snow Suit & Boots Outfit - Maplelea

Last summer I had heard that Maplelea items were being sold through Amazon and qualified for Prime shipping.  I decided to check out the items, and fell in love with the Maplelea Copper Coat, Winter Snow Suit and Boots outfit.

I paid $36.  Which, to me, is astronomical.  But I had heard so many good things about the quality of Maplelea products, and the outfit was so interesting and unique to me that I splurged, and saved this outfit for myself for Christmas this past year.

It's a three piece set, including the copper puffer jacket, the brown snow pants, and embroidered black snow boots.  It also came with some journal pages about Niagara Falls (not shown).  People did not lie about the outstanding quality of Maplelea items!  These are teeny tiny reproductions of clothes we would wear.  The pants and coat are fully lined in this brown satiny pattern.  True to life, the pants and coat are a little roomy, so your doll can wear a sweater and leggings underneath, just as if they are spending a day outdoors in wintry weather.

The boots are so incredibly detailed.  The embroidery is really pretty, and the soles of the boots - they are just miniature boots!  I completely understand why people love the Maplelea brand.

The only part that I did not like was that the arms of the coat are long, and will cover the hands of AG dolls.  I'm assuming that Maplelea dolls have longer arms.  But I was able to tuck some of the sleeve inside itself so that the length would be appropriate, and you really cannot tell once it's on the doll.

Because the coloring of the outfit is so different from any other I've seen, I was interested in how it would look on a variety of dolls.  I tried the outfit on AG's Marie Grace, Rebecca, and Maryellen, our Paola Reina doll "Ruby", and our Dolls from Heaven St. Joan doll.

Who do you think wore it best?

*DISCUSSION* AG Truly Me - Decline in Quality?

I have always been a doll collector but recently started collecting American Girl dolls.

The last couple of months when I have ordered via the website - the Truly Me dolls have come to me in a very unpleasant way - meaning no hair tags, hair nets or doll activities kit - am wondering if other collectors are noticing such a vast decline in quality?

There is no comparison to the quality comparing to A Girl for All Time dolls or even Maplelea Dolls - these two brands in my opinion are so much better - even their Customer Service ranks much higher compared to American Girl -just wondering if other collectors are noticing the difference
Thank you for your time,
Eleanor

*REVIEW* Maplelea Doll - Leonie

Here is my very first Canadian doll from Maplelea, Leonie. She is so beautiful and made so well! The box she comes in is amazing.

The cost was reasonable on Amazon $99.99 free shipping. I love her hair and the body is the same as AG.

Clothing is high quality and I ordered two more outfits!

George had to get in the picture...

*Review* Anne of Green Gables Outfit - Maplelea

Jennifer has a review for us.

I purchased the Anne of Green Gables outfit. The dress is made of substantial very thick cotton fabric.

It is a bit long in the arms on Nellie O'Malley.

Corduroy jumper has the same plastic snaps as the dress.

Maplelea bloomers left are thinner and longer than AG bloomers. Maplelea bloomers snap and American Girl uses elastic. Different but both are great quality.

My Nellie can normally stand on her own, but the heal on the boots prevents this. Maplelea boots are much longer and also a bit narrower.

Materials are quite comparable, the one thing I would say American Girl does better though are the details. The buttons on the American Girl boots are actually a metal button. Maplelea boot buttons are embroidered. As you can see the Velcro on the Maplelea boot is on the side rather than the back.

I do love the carpet bag. I may use it to create a Mary Poppins outfit in the future.

It comes with a very nice journal page if you had the Maplelea doll. They sort of remind me of Girl Scout journey books.

*Reader Photos* Maplelea Meet Up - Black Creek Pioneer Village

Jennifer took her girls to the Maplelea Meet Up!

This is a new doll slated to be Kayaking. According to Kathryn they narrowed it down to either British Columbia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island or New Brunswick! The owner / founder of Maplelea was very kind in including all dolls. She really seems to care for children.

Dressing up was great fun, my little girl really wants a hoop skirt of her own now.

This is MyAG wearing a handmade gown by Stardust dolls.
Black Creek Pioneer Village is amazingly charming so beautiful really an oasis in the city of Toronto.
