Exhaustively researched - everything historically accurate and to scale,
including Virginia Gazettes in the study, colonial bird bottle,
dishes, linens, pictures (most all of which are canvas, etc)! all the
exterior walls of the house have opening windows which show in interior
scene in the house. The interior scenes in each window show a colonial
Williamsburg feature/building. Functioning doors.
ALL CHANDELIERS AND SCONCES HAVE BATTERY POWERED TAPER CANDLES WHICH
LIGHT UP THE HOME BEAUTIFULLY AT NIGHT ALONG WITH THE FIREPLACES.
I DESIGNED THIS SPECIFICALLY FOR TEACHING AS WELL AS PLAY - THERE ARE
AUTHENTIC DRIED HERBS/FLOWERS OF THE PERIOD, THE KITCHEN GARDEN HAS WHAT
WAS GROWN THEN, THERE IS A CLOCK FOR TELLING TIME, BOOKS, THE COOKING
UTENSILS AND METHODS ARE OF THE PERIOD, A GENTLEMAN'S LEDGER WITH
COLONIAL CASH FOR MATH/COUNTING, AND OF COURSE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE
HOUSE TEACHES OUR AMERICAN HISTORY DURING THE PRE-REVOLUTIONARY COLONIAL
PERIOD. IT WAS DESIGNED TO REFLECT THE PERIOD OF FELICITY AND
ELIZABETH IN THE BOOKS.
Many of the furnishings are authentic American Girl, and some are 1/3
scale reproductions that I spent years acquiring, including miniature
silver, etc.
LOCATED IN WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA.
Includes a fully decorated colonial kitchen with exterior wall and
colonial kitchen garden with reproduction of and actual scarecrow used
in colonial Williamsburg. All the garden items can be "picked"
and replaced. the kitchen back wall is detached from the house
structure and is movable. the interior wall of the kitchen is a wall in
my studio and the furnishings will need to be rehung on a wall in your
home.
A living room with to scale chandelier and working fireplace. Hardwood
floor, tile hearth and working fireplace. French Silk damask
upholstered wing chairs. Authentic to scale "Staffordshire"
and other ceramic figurines on fireplace mantle.
A second floor bedroom with beds and fireplace (working). Brass sconces.
A third floor "attic mice" with living room, nursery, chapel, school,
music room,, etc. I had these mice handmade in Luton England and they
have a back story themselves.
There are "mice" openings throughout the
house so you can never tell where one might be. Here's their back story
and it is charming: "Lady Martha Stilton, mother mouse, grew up in
Luton, England on a vast estate, Luton Hoo. She fell in love with the
parish vicar causing her family to disown her for marrying below her
station. She and the vicar, Rev'd George Lymeswold, emigrated to
America to begin life anew. She treasures the remnants of her past -- a
beautiful harpsichord & a portrait of her mother, Countess
Stilton.The oldest boys, George, Alexander, Louis and Wills, worry their
parents: they have joined the militia and are agitating to separate
from England. The younger mice, still obedient & loyal, are
choristers, musicians, curates, tutors, and governesses for the babies
and tots. The Lymeswolds have taken in lodgers to help with expenses
and Betsey & Tom are hard at work.The Vicar attends chapel daily
and Lady Stilton tries to instill humility and decorum in each of her
children. The mice live in meager but proud elegance in "New "Luton."
A "West Wing" detached and moveable that includes a study, music room
and dining room. Handmade colonial Floorcloths. Miniatures of books
accurate to the period (based on Thomas Jefferson's recommendations of
the books a gentleman should have in his library). The music room has a
hidden MP3 player under the chair with appropriate period Christmas
and other music that plays from that room.
