*REVIEW* Pleasant Company Felicity's Clothes Press

Felicity is not available so another model is modeling.
The Clothes Press 1991 ($150)
Retired in 2005 was replaced with Felicity's Two-Doll Clothes Press.

Beautiful wood, so heavy.

This is the real rare wardrobe Felicity's Clothes Press, from Pleasant Company. Very heavy, solid construction, mahogany color this lovely piece of furniture holds all of Felicity's clothes and treasures. The doors open to reveal adjustable shelves inside held by wooden pegs just as the early full size originals had. Doors open and close beautifully with magnetic clasp at the top. Two drawers pull open to hold more little treasures.

This is the quality wood that collectors will love.

If AG once made this, why can't they now?

Handmade clothing rack and hangers.

  2. Thank you so much for reviewing the older pieces from the collections. There was so much thought and attention to detail put into these items. My daughters really like these over the new items that AG has in the collections. They like that they look like the real thing, that they can touch it, and that it works. They love to play with Rebecca and Julie's record players and the tape recorder. They want to get Melody's radio. Too bad they didn't have Julie's phone actually work or a rotary phone that works. My daughter saw Kit's phone, and thought it was cool. I found an older AG TM desktop computer, that my daughters really enjoy because it has the time and date and they can play a game on it. Most likely AG won't make these items because of money. It would cost too much, and then less profit. I might be wrong, but I don't think Pleasant Rowland started the doll line for money. I thought it was to educate, and I'm very thankful. My daughters and I have learned so much for the older items and books.

    2. This was my favorite item from her collection. She had so many great items. I cannot believe that AG has gotten rid of using wood for their items as if people wouldn't notice the change. Even Nanea bed is part wood part plastic. The plastic threw me for a loop because Addy has a wooden bed and it retired not too long ago. I think AG should honor Pleasant Rowland vision especially with the original dolls that came out in 1990 like Felicity, Addy, Josefina. I really would love for them to do more with ther current Felicity. So many people expected a collection maybe not a wooden one, but more than what we are currently getting. Beautiful wooden piece Madelon. Thank you for sharing this coveted keepsake.

    3. Whoops I meant the 1990s. Josefina was circa 1998.

    4. I am surprised by the combined plastic/wood way American Girl has gone. Z's desk, Nanea's bed, etc. I was surprised that Felicity didn't have any furniture with the re-release, nor accessories, nor clothes, except for the one dress and underwear. Hopefully, AG will listen to its customers and make more furniture for its Beforever dolls. Madelon

  3. Stunning piece and review. PC answered to PR; AG answers to Mattel - HUGE difference. I wonder if there wasn't a timed clause in the take over papers that has expired and allowed Mattel free reign over the products now. Thus the move to more and more plastic.

The Queen's Treasures makes pieces close to this standard.
