Addy's mother makes Addy a pretty summer pink, white and beige plaid
dress along with a white ruffled pinafore. The outfit also
comes with a pink ribbon so that Addy can pull her long hair back on
summer days.
Dress velcro included in the back of dress and pinafore has a tie for back closure and working pockets in the front.
She also has two toned shoes
with cream socks to wear on the streets of Philadelphia.
Beautiful outfit that wears more like an AG birthday outfit to tie into the spring pinafore birthday theme of other AG dolls.

Such a pretty outfit and Addy looks so beautiful! The shoes are really cute too! Thank you Ticia!
ReplyDeleteI need to add two of those for my 2 Addys.

Thanks for sharing. The dress is beautiful. She is so cute. Did all of the 18" dolls have a 'hand made'doll? I looks like that is Addy's doll? Was it only certain ones?
ReplyDeleteI am glad you asked. I was always curious about each doll's collection and the uniformity of all the books. Most of the older dolls did. Samantha, Molly, Kirsten, Felicity, Addy, Kit, Kaya and Julie had their own dolls from their stories. Julie being the last with her 1970s famous Barbie Head Doll for Christmas. With the Mattel reign the company moved away from giving historical dolls their dolls from their stories. Rebecca had nesting dolls in her story yet AG released her without them until years later due to popular demand these collectionsites include the dolls from the stories. Samantha returned without her beloved Clara, Caroline came without as did Mary Ellen and Melody. This is a little sadifferent since Mary Ellen had I Love Lucy paper dolls in her 1st book. Hope this helps you track down these dolls because they are such a big part of AG books and stories. It made since to encourage the use of dolls in literature given AG origin and doll play. I wrote in to AG to encourage this, but the response is that there is not demand for the current AG historical dolls to have them due to the success of the mini dolls. I encourage you to wrote if you would like to see this concept of the book's dolls to return to collections. I know I would love to see the return of Kit's Aviator doll Amelia.
DeleteShe looks lovely! Madelon
ReplyDeleteOh and Marie Grace and Cecile had a famous historical opera singer paper doll as their doll from their collection. The paper doll came in a small manilla envolop with a good amount of paper dresses. It was really cute. The original 3 Molly, Samantha and Kirsten also had their own paper dolls unique to their stories and collections. Molly had paper dolls in uniform, Samantha a Edwardian/Victorian girl with paper clothing including a paper parasol outfit and Kirsten had a paper doll girl with the latest 1854 trends from Paris or New York. I remember that she was quite taken with New York Fashion when she got lost in the city after arriving to America. I would like to think that due to the inclusion of her paper doll that she grew up to become a fashion designer living in Manhattan married to a wealthy socialite. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteHi! Addy looks stunning. I love this outfit. In a funny happenstance, I ended up with two sets. I don't remember seeing socks in either, but will check again, because I may have thought the pointelle would get snagged. My boots tie on the inside not the out - I will look at them again too. I think I got both of mine when they were on sale before being retired so they could be missing parts and seconds.

Hi, again! I had a chance to pull both of my Addy's Summer Plaid outfits. Neither came with socks. Then I did some further research on the boots and looked up civil War era fashions. The laces do go on the inner ankle. Except for the socks, all is well with my sets. :)
DeleteYes. My set was a new set and for whatever reason I had an extra pair of cream socks. I am sure mine came with socks but mine could have sat on the shelf for a while before they discontinued adding socks. I am glad you researched that time period. Addy is such a beautiful doll and she brings history to life for so many.
DeleteAddy - a really wonderful doll.
ReplyDeleteOh, Addy looks so pretty in her spring dress. Thank you for sharing!
