*NEWS* Taobao Listing of TM Dolls in Perma-Panties

The Truly Me Dolls are set to get a new outfit this summer. Renee found this link on Taobao.
 ***********

There are several dolls, WW and 18”. The 18” have the permanent panties. All the panties are light pink, like what was leaked. I zoomed in and took screenshots of the shoes and underwear.  It is hard to tell if they are AG shoes, although there is a black tag on them, just like in some of the other pictures.

I noticed that Z has the same hand (s) as Tenney, but in the photos from the Toy Fair, she has the original design, so think she is pre-production. The pink high tops look like they are all plastic.

Also to add to what Renee has said, I think Z has a Tenney body in the photo above. It wasn't indicated she would have a new hand like Tenney.

What are your thoughts?
Will you be purchasing Z Yang?

  1. No! I do not intend to buy a doll with permanent panties. I think it is a crazy idea. As much as I like AG, I hope that they won't sell well and will be phased out. But, everyone is different so maybe some buyers will think it is a great idea.

  2. I think I am done with AG!! Over the years, I have added thousands of dollars to their coffers, but honestly, the new management at Mattel has gone quite mad. They should also realize that there are adult collectors, as well. I wanted a boy doll, but they should have invested in creating a new face. Every time I look at Logan, I see Kaya. Don't even get me started on the perma-panties!! Good grief!! It makes me sad that I'm not excited about American Girl any more.

  3. No I will not be buying Z Yang. I liked watching the videos but they did not make me want her especially with the body changes!!! I will look at the camera/video set she will have to see if they are made well enough because I would like to get them. That will be the only set that I will buy. I really am only interested in the historical dolls and only if they are of original quality! I really can not believe that Mattel is throwing away this wonderful company - I read yesterday that their sales are down 12% this quarter! Sharon

  4. Absolutely NOT and I really hope someone makes a better camera set because that's what we all really want anyway.

  5. I will not be buying Z. I want a #4 Asian! Also I feel like Z will basically be the 3rd GOTY doll for 2017.(A BIT MUCH) I do not buy GOTY Dolls in general, even so I am upset over the first AA AG GOTY being made from scraps instead of scratch,& then being overshadowed by Tenney who imo is not a pretty doll! I am & always will be focusing on the historical dolls. (If only AG would realize they are the heart of the company) But I also like the Truly Me line. Still my current wish list is only 12 items. I don't anticipate adding much to it next week... Perma panties I'm not going to do. Nope, won't buy them! And plastic shoes!? EVEN WORSE!! What is next?... Zip ties, perma panties, plastic shoes, holes in clothes, cheap boxes... What should a doll like that cost?? RIP AG

  6. We have zero interest in a doll with permanent underwear.

We did recently pick up an original bodied Tenney from Kohls, and an original bodied TM13 from an AG in TRU store.

  7. These are featured on a Chinese reseller's account and are probably frankendolls made from spare parts and factory reject parts. Thus it means nothing that the Z-frankendoll has the Tenney hands, it is just the available spare parts being put together.

  10. I bought Asian doll number 4 on eBay. I looked for her for a long time but it was definitely worth the wait. She has beautiful almond shaped eyes, thick black hair, and her skin color is beautiful. Her body is bigger, too. I am so glad I bought her. She arrived in a nice outfit without underwear, She is beautiful.

  11. I am fortunate to have a nice collection of historical dolls, mostly original Pleasant Company dolls. Over the years, I have purchased some of the dolls that AG has issued under Mattel, I love Grace, Lea, and Kanani. I'm afraid that I have decided against the recent dolls. I bought new Felicity's outfit, but not Felicity. No interest in any of the others coming up, with the possible exception of the Hawaiian girl. And what if she has perma-panties? Hmmm. Well, if I like the doll and her story, and since she is a historical, I very well may get her. But I will probably start looking for a current Truly Me resale, that does not have the perma-panties, in the same color range, and swap torso's. It's not that hard. But if they don't do a good job on the face and the story, clothing and accessories, I will giver her a pass. It is sad what Mattel is doing to this brand.

    1. I agree. I would love to see a new Hawaiian doll but I am still upset about Gabby. Why can AG create a new doll, but not create a new AA doll? What does this really say? I am beyond perturbed by this and irked. I am interested in Nanea accessories that may be linked to educate about Hawaiian culture and history that I can pair with Kanani and her books. But a new 18inch AG doll for my family and I no way. Not until they fix their wayward views on doll diversity and what customers really want and will pay for. A recycled doll to represent AA girls no way. Not gonna work for me.

    2. I don't know if you listened to the podcast (in a different post on LADL), but they talk about the diversity. The person called AG and she describes that experience and how what AG was praising as being diversity for Asian dolls really isn't Asian. They did mention AA dolls as well to further show how the company really isn't diverse. Then talked about how the money may play into the choices. The person is supposed to write to the board of directors. Based on the talk, it sounded like none of the hosts were familiar with AG history or collections. I decided to leave comment, with hopes that she would have more information to spark researching just what Mattel is doing while telling the customers a different tale through their marketing.

  13. I feel the same way Linda, Nanea is on my wish list. I will be disappointed if she has permanent panties though. I'm also hoping they will provide more beforever items for Felicity.
