*In Store Report* AGP NY

I recently ordered #54, who was updated to have the Ivy mold when Truly Me launched.

However, I received an older version with the Jess mold, which doesn't have the coloring in the corners of the eyes. I went to AG place N.Y. today to exchange her, but all 54's except the one in the display case had the original Jess mold. Needless to say I was unhappy and no one could offer up an explanation. I exchanged her for #64, who has the eyes we're looking for, but no bangs.

  1. Sadly, I must say. I totally beleive this. I recently purchased 31 and she did not at all look like the 31 throughout the Store. I felt so devided about it. I knew The one I got was diffrent.I do feel that they are still getting rid of the order stock 1st and just change the outfits to current ones on TrulyMe Dolls. I totally love the one you actually wanted. I recently purchased 64 and adore Her also. Sorry that happened.

  2. Thank you for bringing this up. First of all, I'm sorry that happened to you. I know your pain. This is not a case where older stock was used during a meet outfit/branding change. It was a face mold change that appears to have lasted less than one year with 54. Thanks to LADL and other sites, we were made aware of the eye changes in 54 that changed with the TrulyMe intro last year. What Leslie experienced online, is also going on at AGP Los Angeles. It has been this way for many months. What's strange is they keep adding more and more of the TrulyMe 54 dolls, with Ivy features to their displays at AGPLA (as recently as with the intro of the new TM mix and match outfits)--and all the while they are not available for sale. Only the TM 54 dolls without Ivy's eye features are available in the store to customers. If you look at AG's web site, it's the same story. I love all things AG but if they've changed 54 back to the "plain" Jess mold, why not make the ones with Ivy's feature that come into the store available to us, their customers, who have asked for them at the store, instead of putting those with the Ivy features on display? Loyal customers have come to trust AG, deserve better than this from a place where we all love to shop. Maxine, I enjoy all of your posts and am sorry that happened to you, too. Rhonda, thank you for your wonderful blog!!

  3. I had the same problem trying to find the revised doll with eye notches and wrote about this on my blog. I can report that AGPSF has not had the revised TM 54 on its shelves since October 2015!

  4. Ladies I just experience the same situation with #65 the one I fell in love with in the store display was not the one in the box. So I looked for one of the store displayed dolls until I found a #65 which l liked and was not used it look like new and then I requested a head change and my request was honored. They know me at the store and they want to please me. I got the doll I fell in love with and they had a happy returning customer.

  5. Wow Maxine I thought this just happened to me only! Thank you for bringing this up and Rhonda for sharing. I ordered doll 54 during the TM deal that they had online with the pet set and a TM outfit. They sent me the older 54 model. I was not happy so I put the doll back in the box, knowing that it wasn't the doll I wanted. I was afraid if I got used to her, that I would instantly get attached and not want to exchange her for the one I wanted. She stayed in the box for a week until I went to the store. The reps tried to act as if she was the same as the one on display, but I knew better and focused on the eyes. They finally agreed and went to the back to search. Finally they came back with the new version. It took a while and it was slow...not a lot of store traffic. I always encourage people to pick our the doll they want and not the sales person. You are the one bringing the doll home and investing in the doll. Dolls are apart of who we are so the doll should be the one you want. I love the new 54 and I hope that it was not a one time occurance in which they changed the face mold. I have heard some customers complain that the new 54 looks like she is wearing eyeliner, which I do not think is the case. I like her new eyes because it is a unique feature and defining. I am sorry this happened to you. Thanks for sharing your story.

  8. I find this situation so weird and interesting!!!
I didn't know about this until you mentioned it.

I do wonder what is happening and am sadden this revised version is now so hard to find.

Hopefully AG fixes this issue but sadly I see this as something AG can sweep under the rug if they so please.

  9. not that I'm happy, but I thought that it was only me. I bought #54 online because I'm in Australia and they sent me the Jess mold doll. I contacted AG both via email and phone and they could only say that the doll was the Jess mold. I even put a review of the doll on the AG website to let others know that there were differences, it is no longer there.
I was upset, then Jess mold #54 got upset that I didn't want her, the other dolls took her out of her box so she may have to stay now that they've grown attached to her.

  10. Hi everyone. Thanks for your support. I did ask someone to check in the back, however all of the 54's in the NYC store were the older version. They even tried to convince me that mine was the newer version, and that the one in the display case was the older version. 64 is beautiful Maxine. We just wanted one with bangs because we already own Jess who has a side part, minus the eye notches. Hopefully we'll find the right 54 soon. Thanks for posting this Rhonda.

  11. Wow thanks for informing us about this. I was planning on purchases her and altering the hair so I wouldn't have to pay $200+ for Ivy, since I already have her outfit and accessories. Guess I'll have to wait a bit. I'm glad some of you have been able to find her coming in stock in the back or get her head swapped for the right one.
