*NEWS* BeForever Maryellen Larkin Reporting

About this time of year as it gets closer to a release date, the potential for leaks of BeForever stock images including Maryellen may possibly circulate. A gentle reminder that posting any AG images prior to release date (August 27) violates AG copyrights.

AG website explanation and complete list, including logos LINK
LADL will not be posting leaked images.
LADL will be doing In Store Report coverage August 27.

  1. She is pretty. Can you do something special for Father's Day and allow Daddy's to show how they share their Daughters love for American Girl Dolls and post them with their Daddy, Doll and Project or show how they share this love with their Daughter's ? Thank You.

  2. Question - The 1st volume of each Beforever classic typically show the character in their meet outfit. I have seen several leaked photographs of the new doll modeling different outfits, none of which are reminiscent of the one shown on the cover of this book. Was her meet outfit changed? Were the photographs inaccurate? Will the outfits shown on the cover of the books no longer correlate with their meet outfits? I realize no one may know for sure, but any insight into the matter would be appreciated as I am so excited for her long-awaited release!

    1. The book images are of her meet outfit. The leaked photos were from a Chinese website, they were of a prototype doll shown to an AG test panel while in the planning stages. As with all prototype images, colors, styles, etc will change over time until final approval.

    2. One of the leaked photos shows a similar striped dress but with pink ribbon accents, fewer color stripes, and additional accessories. I think you can guess that (barring any other changes) that is a good prototype of the meet dress and accessories. I think the dress on the book cover is even prettier than the prototype so I am glad it continued to evolve. Now, fingers crossed that they use Marie-Grace's head instead of the prototype head.

  3. "She follows her heart instead of the crowd!" Maybe civil rights?

  5. She is ADORABLE! I'm already saving up... Oops. I love her story idea, though it sounds a bit like Rebecca's story... Do I sense a retirement?

  6. I think she is gorgeous! I think she is going to be super popular. I hope she has some sort of music player (like Julie's) that represents the music from the 1950s! I predict a poodle skirt in her outfits!

    1. A poodle skirt would unfortunately be inaccurate... it was popular for teens, but a 9-year-old would not wear one.

    2. Children ages nine would have worn full skirts, whether an actual "poodle" applique was on them is unknown.

Here is a photo of a vintage pattern: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/58/83/25/58832530e4b12e623a0ffb1ca9dd582e.jpg

    3. I received a poodle skirt for my 10th birthday in 1956....5th grade.....same year that rockets started to be launched into space from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Several of my friends also had poodle skirts. It was a short lived fad, but oh, so iconic!

  7. From the background of the book it seems she lives in somewhere tropical. Somewhere in American since this is American Girl. Maybe Hawaii? Florida?
    What are y'all's thoughts?

    1. She could be from California as well...

    2. I remember her second story had something to with "taking flight." It could be possible she doesn't live in Hawaii, but will be visiting Hawaii by plane! Hawaii was added to the U.S. in the 1950s, and Maryellen's story is in 1954, so that would make sense. I wonder if the seaside diner will be owned by her parents?

    3. That's a good thought! I can't wait to see what her stories are about.
My personal "policy" for myself is that I like to read the books before I get a doll. Her books are available for pre-order on Amazon too. There is still no picture or description.
Julie was from California, but Caroline, Rebecca, and Samantha live in New York, so adding another in Cali won't hurt. That does make sense Maria Stewart!

    4. California is most predictable because Kanani was already from Hawa'ii. Although, now that I think about it, she's very similar to Julie and Julie lives in California so, quite possibly florida as well. Does anyone have a picture of the actual doll yet?

  8. OH MY GOSH I AM SO EXCITED!!! :-D :-D :-D Maryellen Larkin is SUCH a pretty name!!!!

  9. OMG!! If she lives in California, that would be AMAZING! I live in California and would be so thrilled to have a doll come from the state that I live in. So excited!!

  10. Remember there is a Seaside Diner that has been trademarked...a mention of rolling CA vistas in a Chicago newspaper....

  11. I'm still sticking with my NASA link--dad works for NASA or is somehow involved. One of the first three NASA Research Centers was in California and was built in the 1950's. Her outfit definitely looks more like 1950's than 1960's.

  12. I like the NASA idea and that could be Florida. Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, etc.

  13. I think she either lives in Florida or California. Her parents are going to own a diner?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think it'll be Florida, simply because they already have a character (Julie) in California. Also, the sheer amount of tropical shrubbery strikes me as something that you'd be more likely to see in Florida.

  15. Sorry everybody but I don't like her meet dress. If AG is going make sleeveless dresses they need to make the doll with a breastplate. Also, instead of neck strings attaching the head, they need to use a clip. The doll does look pretty. If I buy her, I willl have to buy another dress with sleves. Her meet dress will be stored with Samatha's and Caroline's and with never be used on the doll. No sleeveless or pink for me.

  16. I just saw the one comment about poodle skirts and rocket launches in 1956. All I can say is NIFTY!

Regarding location...I'm leaning toward Cape Canaveral area. Too much foliage for California (Edwards is in the Mojave Desert) and I'm not certain when the Pasadena location was established. I've always loved NASA and really hope Mary Ellen has a tie in there. So many great things to learn. Of course, so many things to get wrong if the R&D team falls down on the job.

    Very excited!

  17. She's a cute character, but the doll kind of reminds me of MAG#33!
