HTM - A Doll Beret for 18" Dolls

I received a few requests on how to make a doll beret.

1. Use an existing beret or a bowl 5-6" dia. or the same size to trace a circle onto a folded piece of felt.
2. Trace with a pen onto the felt.

3. Sew along the line.
4. Trim off the excess felt.

5. Pull the sides of the beret apart and cut a small slit in one side.
6. Cut a small circle, be careful not to make it too large.

7. Now smooth the hole using your hands, it will stretch slightly.
8. Turn the beret right side out.

Voila!

  1. I wonder how well this would work with polar fleece? I might have to try it.

  4. How big is the circle. I don't have the doll, the hat and clothes are a gift for my niece

  5. Cute pattern but I'm a little lost: Picture 5 shows the scissors pointing to the side of the beret and talks about a slit - is that where the slit goes, and what is the slit for? Thanks.

    1. They should have put an X in the center of the circle on the side you will cut, then cut this slit marked by the X and make a small circular cut removing the X. ( Depending upon the size of your doll head.) then you can start stretching, if to small after stretching cut a little more off of the circle!

  6. Totally adorable and creative. That said; do very much appreciate your sharing of the pattern but with no intent of being critical; may I suggest that when giving a tutorial that perhaps you could set your page format up without your family of dolls, so one does not have to waste their coloured ink when printing the instructions off .... ☺. (Thank you!) -Brenda-
