4th of July Party Decor - Week 5

Planning a party, parade or picnic for your dolls can be super fun. A great time to get creative. Let Miss Victory inspire you!

Paper chains are easy to make and add so much COLOR!

Bring out all of your doll food (hot dogs, burgers, hot dogs, fries, popcorn, sponge cake, snow cones, cotton candy, ice cream, and sodas for an amazing buffet table. Don't forget to set up the grill!

This is a photo from last year's parade!

The bike is decorated in curling ribbon, crepe paper, stars, flowers and has an American Flag on the basket.

Molly's Food Rations - Week 5

During WWII food was rationed. Molly and her family would have canned and pickled foods from their garden. Buying certain foods at the local grocer was limited in supply.

That meant Molly's family had to use a ration book.

Typical food allowances:

Butter: 3 3/4 ozs (90g)
Bacon or ham: 200g (8oz)
Margarine: 6 1/2 ozs (160g)
  Cooking fat/lard: 200g (8oz)
Sugar: 14 1/2 ozs (440g)
Meat: To the value of 2/4d – about 2lb (900g)
  Milk: 5 pints (3000mls) 
Cheese: 8oz (200g)
Eggs: 2 fresh egg a week 
 Tea: 30zs (70g) 
 Jam: 900g (2lb)
Dried eggs: 1 packet (12 eggs)
Sweets & Chocolate: 700g (1lb 8oz)

Print these labels and glue onto empty spools of thread or rolled paper tubes.

How to Make Molly's Hula Skirt - Week 5

 Molly's hula skirt is easy to make. Pair it with a red sweater or long sleeve t-shirt. You can make this from a simple vinyl table cloth or purchase a pre-made skirt and cut it down. 

 

I found this one at the Dollar Tree.  This option actually allows for more than one skirt so you can use them later for a luau.

Supplies:

• Vinyl table cloth, green
• Ribbon 3/4", green 
• duct tape
• scissors
• Craft glue

Directions:

1. Measure the length of your doll from the waist to the floor, cut same length of the table cloth.
2. Begin cutting strips, leaving 2" at one end.
3. Secure the 2" uncut side evenly onto a long strip of ribbon with duct tape - leave tails long enough to tie at the waist.

How to Make Molly's School Lunch - Week 5 (Doll Food Series)

The Pleasant Company version had a paper sack lunch. Later AG sold a lunch box version. I have a review video.

This post is for a sack lunch.

Supplies:

• 3x3" small butcher paper gift bag, handles removed
• Craft foam sheets - yellow - thin; black and white - thick
• White napkin
• Stiff sponge
• Sculpey clay, polymer clay or salt dough
• Acrylic Paint - green, orange, white, tan
• Faux pear
• Leaf from silk plant
• Glue

Directions:

1. Cut the napkin to doll size, leave the existing fold.
2. Cut a sponge into a doll size sandwich, slice thickness in half.
3. Paint the sponge white on both of the flat sides, let dry.
4. Paint the four sides tan (crust), let dry.
5. Cut a piece of yellow fun foam (cheese) to fit the bread.
6. Assemble your sandwich with the yellow cheese slice and lettuce leaf.
7. Roll two long snake pieces of clay or salt dough.
8. Shape the tip of one snake thin - Carrot.
9. Place a pencil on the other snake piece, make a groove - celery.
10. Once the vegetables are baked, dry - paint them orange and green.

Molly's Victory Garden - Week 5

Supplies:

• Small box (cereal, cracker)
• Florist foam - for silks
• Silk greenery, bushes
• Moss
• Popsicle sticks
• Craft glue
• Wire cutters ADULT SUPERVISION

Directions:

1. Cut the bottom of your snack or cereal box 2-3" tall. (Glue the opened side closed and repeat to make two window boxes)
2. *Optional - paint the exterior of the box.
3. Measure and cut florist foam to fit inside, glue into place.
4. Drizzle craft glue on top of the florist foam and sprinkle moss, covering the foam.
5. Using wire clippers and ADULT SUPERVISION, clip greenery into individual stems. 
6. Begin adding greenery by sticking the stems into the florist foam, do not over crowd (leave room "to grow").
7. Print the seed packet labels and glue onto Popsicle sticks
8. Insert a seed packet label into each flower box.

You can place these in your doll rooms and doll houses. These will work for Addy, Kirsten, Felicity and Samantha too.
