My daughter has recently become obsessed with the Harry
Potter world, so I decided to order a little outfit from Amazon for her
18-inch doll. For $27.99 CAN, this little magic school uniform was a
great deal! It came with a hooded wizard’s robe (with a fake Gryffindor
emblem and a red lining), a white collared shirt, a grey V-necked
sweater, a grey pleated skirt, grey socks, black patent-leather shoes, a
white and red necktie, Harry’s circular glasses, a miniature wizard’s
wand (metal) on a long metal chain and a tiny Bible book to stand in as a
magic book.
The
clothing pieces are well-made (only one sock’s hem has come away a bit)
and mostly fit well. We had some trouble getting the necktie to properly
tie around the doll’s neck (it’s a bit shorter in length than needed),
so it’s a little loosely knotted beneath the ‘jumper’ instead.
The
accessories added some fun play value. While my daughter Avery selected
one of her dolls who looked most like the Hermione character to dress
in the outfit, she still wanted her to wear the Harry glasses. Maybe she
is Harriet Potter instead of Hermione?
Some
might not like the idea of a Bible serving as a magic spell book, but
it is a great little prop—even if you don’t use it with your wizarding
school scenes. It’s the real deal with tiny words and pictures. My
littlest daughter loves tiny books (even if she can’t read much yet), so
she is fascinated with the ‘magic book’ and keeps walking off with it!
The wand is the perfect size for the doll, even if she can’t hold it
without an elastic or tape securing it to her hand. The chain allows the
user to also wear the wand like a pendant. Unfortunately, the chain
broke within a few days of playing with it (the wand is fine), but it
looks like a clean break that is probably fixable!
All in all, I would completely recommend this outfit for a doll fan who is looking to recreate some of Harry Potter’s world.
