She
has prior experience at Mattel, and doll experience. I am interested to
see where she takes American Girl. I’m hoping that she can turn the
historical line around. Wonder what she’ll get rid of, what will be
changed, what will remain the same, will they still sell dolls in Costco
at Christmas, will they pull all dolls from Kohl’s (our store doesn’t
even have an AG banner, the toys are just placed there, not neat and
some dolls look like they have been there for a while.)
There
is another article announcing the new SVP/GM. This article didn’t have
as much of her background, but I did find this information interesting.
“She succeeds Katy Dickson, who headed American Girl from early 2016
until the end of 2018.” I wasn’t aware that she left AG, and wonder who
has been running AG during 2019.
Good news! Great background. Hopefully, yes, she can respect the brand.
ReplyDeleteThis says a lot. Hope she can turn things around for the better.
ReplyDeleteIf she worked on the Madame Alexander doll brand, then she must understand something about the collectible quality about dolls, and why people buy them. We might see great things done with the historical lines and not see them so decimated, especially the beloved ones like Felicity, Samantha, Kit, Addy and Molly, who were the originals. I'm tired of seeing them retired and seeing them 'comeback' not that great .
ReplyDeleteI agree. This is positive and encouraging news.
DeleteVery interesting. I like her background too. She has a good mix of working with collectibles and brands.
ReplyDeleteHopefully she will help the brand. My daughter has had zero interest in Blaire books. She says the covers aren't the same.
