Maxing ,you can get the custom Line doll outfits ( 34) and Accessories (30) without getting a doll. Just put a custom doll in the cart and you will see the option to buy the outfits and accessories. After you you have the stuff you want remove the doll from cart and place your order.
Awww....bilge rats. Now I really want to cancel my order. Though the cost of an eBay doll, two outfits and an accessory pack would come to about the same price. :\
Wait--no it wouldn't. It would be cheaper. Carp. Now what to do.
Thank you for sharing. Love to see the doll outfits for the create your own. My daughter likes the donut dress. I am a little disappointed that the collar doesn't go all the way around, and looks like it was cut out and sewn on. But it is an adorable dress.
It is interesting that AG is putting a bottle of 'Smoothing Spray' in the hair style kit. I may order the kit just to see what it is and how it works.
I actually ordered a Create Your Own. If undecided on just one outfit, you can order additional outfits/accessory packs, but the accessory packs are $30(!!!!) with the outfits being only $34. And there's shipping on the additional outfits, which, suffice to say, I think is...malarky. I'm displeased that the create your own tee option was removed when I just received a catalogue with my Back to School order saying that you could.
I'm nervous that I should have just tried my luck at finding the old GOT #8 doll on eBay and been fine with that, and of course, a week after I ordered Eleanor (my custom doll), a very nice GOT #8 showed up on eBay. But the face shape would've been wrong, and then she really just would've been like Felicity with bangs (another concern of mine--that my doll will just look like another doll I already have, which is also the case with my original GOT20 and Kirsten, only difference being the eye color and wig style).
Aggh, emotional vomit of potential buyer's guilt. Sorry everyone. I have high anxiety and I'm super nervous about how my doll will turn out. I'll see her sometime next month, maybe...what with all the times they went through backorders in just the first two days.
Thank you for the report. Disappointed in the create tee going missing in the package. :( Did they replace it with something? The price didn't go down did it? ~Xyra
Hahahahaha, no. Still $200. Maybe there will be a coupon when the doll arrives to redeem the t-shirt for those who ordered early on? All I know is that I should call soon and say "hey, I received this catalogue on the day I ordered my doll that said I'd be able to make a custom t-shirt for free, and that wasn't an option. Why didn't the company stick to its advertising?"
Absolutely! Why didn't they keep to what they promised in their advertising. If they haven't posted a press release or reason on their website or other media outlets someone could get them for false advertising. ~Xyra
Fabulous!!!! TARGET NOW HAS THE EXACT SAME American Girl Doll Brush for 4.99
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know. I will have to look for it. Madelon
DeleteI wish we could by all the Custom Line of Dolls outfits and accessories.
ReplyDeleteYes. Wish they were sold separately. Madelon

Madelon, after I read this I drove to Tyson's Corner to see in person. Nice display. I love going to the American Girl store.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you saw them in person. The doll store is a fun (if not dangerous to the wallet) to visit. Madelon

Thanks for the photos
ReplyDeleteI thought the doll in the donut dress had a Sonali mold, not the classic (just wanted to point that out)
