*REVIEW* Felicity Merriman McDonald's Happy Meal Booklet 2009

I saw this up for sale for .25 cents, I paid the $5.00 it says McDonald's Happy Meal Item, looks like it was made for MCDONALDS HAPPY MEAL 2009. I HATE TO OPEN IT. BUT, I MUST TO SHARE WITH MY FRIENDS ON LADL.

We only started buying American Girl Brand Doll items in 2013. So we had no chance of getting this in 2009. Imagine someone getting this and holding on to it till now, unopened ? Truly amazing to me.

Oh my goodness this is packed with delightfulness. For starters: 6 page story about Felicity Merriman's World growing up in 1774. I love how this time in history suggested strong things such as handwriting, developing a hobby like stitchery and riding a horse. And even learning how to politely refuse something.

This little Goodie is remarkably designed and includes how to make a Bilboquet, it is a cute craft that can easily be made to play a cup and ball game. Also included is all you need to make it, in the back of this treasure!!!!!.

The Tea Pot Maze is so intriguing too, so to become a Gentle woman she must learn to Dance, Stitchery, Writing, Serving Tea and to Curtsy. Wow, they even had a language that was communicated with their fan, which includes the message Come talk to me, Let's dance, I'm sorry and Let's be Friends. Wow, I would have loved raising my Kids during this time. This treasure includes an art lesson, Trivia and a full tour into Felicity Merriman World. I am in love with this find.

I wish we still had the American Girl Brand Doll Company that had standards like this for an item they placed in a Happy meal. I would love buying everything they produced. Hope you can get your hands one one or more of these. I have a Pleasant Company Felicity Merriman and will add this to her collection.

  1. We loved these when they first came out! This is actually how we really started getting into American Girl surprisingly. We'd drive around to every Mc Donald's to make sure we'd pick up different books. My Mom found two last year that she had put up in Florida and mailed them to us. Thanks as always for sharing Maxine, we love you and LADL!! ❤️😘❤️ Pinkaglover

  3. Hi Maxine! I still have all my American Girl Mcdonalds happy meal toys! They are so brilliant. Well these ones are anyway. And I have some of the Fun with American Girl books as well. American Girl also did little packets like the mcdonalds ones. Though I cant remember what they where called as Its still first thing in the morning and I havent had my full cup of tea yet.

I really miss the old company. I miss the products that used to come out like the past time books and cookbooks. And the World books. I would so love a set of craft and recipe, and world books for Rebecca and some of the newer characters. I have spent many happy hours since I was little pouring over these books and I still pour over them to this day.

And just in case you did not know about the American Girl Review and Circle of Friends cds you should really see if you can find them! They are excellent!

    1. The little packets you're talking about were called treasure totes. They were not nearly as nice as the McDonald's books. And yes, every character needs to have a World Book, those were wonderful!!

    3. My girls and I love the past time books, World books, etc. We homeschool, and they like to bring a historical doll to school when we are learning about their time period (if we have her). She will teach about her time period, and we get out the World book. They really enjoy it. All of the books, doll, accessories they all went together. I wasn't in American Girl when all of these great books were published. As I look at what Pleasant Rowland accomplished, it is amazing. I did find an old World Book for Kit. I really like the format of that book. The newer versions are also nice, but the older version, again, true to Pleasant engaged the child.

When AG had the Treasure totes and Just for Fun books on clearance, I picked them up. My girls loved them.

We also like the History Mystery Series. Just like the historical books, they had a section in the back of the book that talked about the history that relates to the story.

Did anyone else see on AG Facebook, a person asked why all the years end in 4. In AG's response, they said in the future that may change so they can be historically correct.

  4. How wonderful! I don't have that one, but I do have Josefina's, Molly's, Kirsten's, Kaya's and Kit's! I tried to get as many as I could at the time but I didn't start collecting historical stuff until about a year and a half later. All of mine are out of the plastic but I haven't opened them (I've been too afraid to remove the bows lol). Maybe it's time to explore them! Thank's for sharing!

  5. I skipped this due to not eating at McDonald's at the time and not realizing the Happy Meal AG deal. I always cringe when I see that I missed the opportunity to have these sets. At the time I was still very much into AG and buying items online or in book stores since I did not live near an AG store location. Finally they built one near me in Tysons Corner:) Knowing what I know now I would love to go back in time, money in hand and purchase all the AG items that are almost impossible to find now at a good price. I even have the full size paper dolls of Samantha and Kirsten front 2004. I laugh when I see how young I was when I wrote the date in their book along with my name remembering how proud I was to finally get a copy without ordering it from online. I even found homemade paper dolls in the back from where I created classmates for Samantha. Funny how paper can spark such imagination when marketed correctly.

  7. I got the Molly book when I was little, and I loved it. I think that may be the reason I love Molly, because she was the first one I was introduced to.

  9. I agree - wish the standards of the original Pleasant Co. was still present with the AG company of today. But it is all about profit margins now.

What were AG' profits like, back when it was producing gems like this?

    1. If they had any increase let's all admit why, the upfront cash they took from Amazon Khols, Toy's R Us, Barns and Noble, and who ever else they could get a purchase order from Period!!!!! Christmas sales at the Store where terrible, but great 1 day after Christmas most the Store was 40% off. What the Hell is that?!!!!!!!! When you have no money left all, that is when all you purchased is 40 percent off. I wish I never walked in to find out, but My Daughter wanted the Cancer Doll, and we could not make it in time to get her on Christmas Eve. Walking in to see Melody's Studio 40 percent off!!!!!!! I remember buying it a short time before for full price, the day after Christmas it is a whole $100 Bill less.

  12. I was reading an article this morning. I found this : "“It was clear to me that American Girl was a thinking girl's product line, one that would not sell at Toys 'R' Us,” Rowland told CNN Money. “It wasn't meant to blare from the shelves on its packaging or visual appeal alone. It had a more important message—one that had to be delivered in a softer voice.” " Here is the article.http://mentalfloss.com/article/68375/25-spirited-facts-about-american-girl-dolls

    1. Mattel has really hurt my Feelings as a Loyal Collector for 4 years who spent money that could been saved for College to invest in the products for My 6 Year Old Daughter to only see it reduced to a value of zero becasue of what I call greed. For the people want to say don't spend College saving money at American Girl please don't lie, a $130 the cost of a Doll is still enough to buy a book for College, it is not small money. I have sent 4 Kids to College. I wish Pleasant R. could somehow sue them for the right to buy her Company back for the same price She sold it to them for, before they completely destroyed the Brand. Just my thoughts.
