I think Nanea is a perfect addition to the Be Forever line! My very first American Girl doll was Molly so I'm excited to add another doll from that time period to my collection! She and Molly will have such different perspectives on the war which will be cool to see. She is a must for my collection; I can hardly wait till the fall!
I just can't get used to the fact of two dolls sharing an era. I hope their stories don't make the same references. I even hope they don't speak the same. :/ I wish she was from a different era.
And look how long they lasted? I didn't like that either. All of the good stuff was made for Kirsten and Addy. By the time they got to Cecile and Marie-Grace, the collection was less interesting and they had little inspiration to push forward.
Sorry so late for responding.
I'm also afraid they will replace Addy eventually with a confederate southern belle doll, which will greatly diminish Addy's place in history and diminish her experiences. With her being the only Civil War doll, people were sort of compelled to buy her more because she was the only doll from that era.
There are so many racist people out in the world who can't relate to Addy and who put her down and want her replaced with a white southern girl. I don't like that this is becoming a trend. I saw it coming with the best friend dolls, too.
Can you please provide a link to an online discussion or article where all of these racist people in the world want Addy replaced with a 'confederate' southern belle?
I came into contact with the discussion on AG Playthings message board. There were people who said they wouldnt mind Addy being replaced with a confederate doll. They also said Addys story is too sad. Amazon reviews of Addy have parents saying they hate Addys books because she doesn't speak the proper English. They want a Civil War doll that speaks better English. Read the article "Why I secretly hated my Addy doll". Even black people have self hate towards Addy.
She's stunning. I'm torn as to if I want her or not. If she's "squishy" probably not.
She'll be a little older than Molly since she is 9 or 10 in 1941 and Molly is 9 or 10 in 1944. The stories should be quite different and while they share a similar experience of living through WWII, Molly will never experience the trauma of a bombing like Nanea or Emily. ~Xyra
Yes! I'm so excited! It's just perfect that AG is really adding more of a variety! I'm so excited about her, along with Z. There's finally a legit Asian doll with a real backstory. I'm super excited for them both, I can't wait!
She's so cute! I'm so, so excited about her. She's absolutely gorgeous! She does look a bit like a Wellie Wisher. But, I like that she's a bit different. But seriously if she has Logan's '' squishy '' skin, AG i'm literally done.
naneas face just bugs me when I first saw the doll I was sure it was a wellie wisher which I don't enjoy its just too cartoony the eyes are way too big to look Hawaiian, I know AG is trying to be more appealing to younger girls with the face changes and the brighter colored clothing but I just miss the old AG where they focused more on the historical characters :'(
I'm looking forward to seeing her.

ReplyDeleteI wasn't excited about Nanea until I saw the new face mold. Beautiful!! I can't believe they already revealed her.

ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken, Kirsten and Cecile and Marie-Grace share the same era. They are only a year apart.

DeleteOh my! I just love her face--I love all the new dolls! But, she is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI will wait to see if I like her.
ReplyDeleteNanea made my day. I think she's gorgeous. I hope she is everything we love about American Girl.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I'd like Nanea, but having seen her she is beautiful! I love the new facemold.

I'm so relieved she won't have permanent underwear! We are looking to add her to our family this year.
ReplyDeleteShe has the AG WW dolls face mold and I am not keen on those dolls. I am not buying her but might read her book.

ReplyDeleteI don't know why but she reminds me so much of Moana!
ReplyDeleteThis doll looks beautiful. I am delighted that it is different from the previous ones. In any case, I find it more successful than Kanani!
