Tutorial - How to Curl Caroline's Hair

I am responding to a LADL member who needed help with Caroline curls. I find it easy to smooth out curls with an unused, clean toothbrush.

This toothbrush should only be used for brushing the doll's hair.  I start by brushing a section of Caroline hair one section at a time. Once each section is brushed out, take the ends of the hair in that section starting at the bottom and twist the hair while attached to the bristles of the wire brush counter clockwise until a curl ringlet forms.

Gently release brush using your fingers and repeat for each section. Use the toothbrush to brush tiny flyaway hair, or use it to smooth hair for up dos.

Hope this helps. I did this without water detailing at the bottom and working my way up each section. Spray a little water on hair if too dry or frizzy and begin.

    1. You are welcome! With Tenney coming in February, her hair will be as curly as Caroline's.

  2. Thank you Ticia for taking the time to create this tutorial and sharing. My daughter and I appreciate the information. We love the bows that you and Maxine put in your doll's hair; they are very cute.

Since the post is about hair styling, I was wondering if someone has Melody's Haristyling Set if they could help. I bought the accessory at Christmas and just took it out of the packaging to style her hair over the weekend. First is that the curls for the hair piece don't match, in length, to the curl in Melody's hair. It doesn't look at all like the catalog/online pictures. I thought the directions said I had to brush it out, but the gap is about a 1/2", so I just wanted someone to confirm that is the case, that is normal. Second, I was thinking that the hair piece would have the same texture as Melody's hair. Mine doesn't match the hair. I wanted to know if this is also normal. I looked on AG at the reviews , and I think that I may not have the hair piece on just right and that causes the hair gap. However, nobody has mentioned the texture not being like Melody's hair. I looked at the review on LADL, but I couldn't tell from the pictures, so I thought I would ask on this post. Thank you.

    1. The doll wig cap texture is different for the hairpiece. Curling is not an issue for me due to the natural flip of the hair. I don't think mine has a gap. You may want to exchange it for another one and let AG know.

    1. Once you do it once, it becomes easier to maintain.

    1. You are welcome. The new dolls have silkier hair so hopefully curls will not have any flyaways.
