This is strictly a GUESS!
I would say if this RUMORED dress does release in August, chances are it will change color along with some of the details. It looks like a prototype due to the lack of details on the bodice.
1950s prom dresses are HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE for vintage weddings.
In fact I've sold a few myself. They're dainty, frilly and come in sherbet colors!
These over the top frilly, ruffled layered ultra feminine party dresses were worn to prom, weddings and on special occasions. Perhaps there will be a ruffled party dress for Maryellen within her collection.
We will wait to see - how exciting!
Looks great! I can't wait to see what Mary-Ellen looks like!
ReplyDeleteIs the rumored dress marked American Girl? Madelon
ReplyDeleteNo. There are no tags.
DeleteIf Mary Ellen has red hair, I think this dress would look beautiful on her in a coral or peach color!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking this is the Store Exclusive Christmas Ball Gown for this year and not part of MaryEllen's collection.
ReplyDeleteWow, this dress is pretty! It would look beautiful on Mary Ellen!
ReplyDeleteDo not like it.
ReplyDeleteCamille LV
Why not Camille?
ReplyDeleteIt is very beautiful, and it would fit the 50s era so perfectly! and the other Anonymous person, why would AG plan the next In store holiday gown already? and especially since they just retired the other one, why would they start planning the new one already when it is only april?
I like the dress! It would look beautiful on Mary Ellen. Has any one noticed that Mary Ellen will be the first Beforever doll with red hair?
ReplyDeleteI know this has nothing to do with Mary Ellen, but I am in a desperate situation. Does anyone know how to make your dolls hair and body smell better? I took my doll to a restaurant and she ended up smelling like BBQ. ;(
ReplyDeleteYou can use Febreeze on the dolls cloth body, but do not hold it too close. You want to mist it - not drench it. Always cover your dolls eyes. You can wash the ends of her hair then use a braid spray for fragrance. Let her air dry without clothes and wash the clothing she had on at the restaurant. If that doesn't help within 24 hours, email me.
DeleteThank you very much! She now smells much better!
DeleteI seriously can't even express how excited I am about Mary Ellen! I really hope this dress (or something like it) is included in her collection-it is gorgeous!

Personally I do not care for it. I can't put my finger on why but I do not like it.
ReplyDeleteThe blue dress, however, I love. If that were her party dress I'd snap it up in a heart beat.
I'd like it fine as a modern outfit but not as a supposedly "historical" 1950's outfit. The bodice with sequins all over it doesn't look right (dresses of the period that I've seen have been much plainer on top, and sequins wouldn't have been used so heavily even for a "fancy" dress.). Plus, don't forget this is a 10-year-old kid--even if it's vaguely similar to a vintage prom dress, a girl her age wouldn't have worn a "prom dress".
ReplyDeletePlease, just because this is supposedly a 50's character let's not assume that she's going to be looking like she stepped off the cover of a doo-wop album.
the dress reminds me of this. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3UvLWbjQXLg/TnnZcwI-dSI/AAAAAAAABeg/LeZbkFz5gXE/s1600/1963mubra10.jpg
ReplyDeleteI hope she's brunette, imagine this in a mint shade!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go completely on a limb and give her a big sister who gets married and she wears this in the wedding. Random? Yes. Unlikely? Yes.
9 year olds would NOT have worn this dress
