Where's Willow? Littleton, CO (Day 2)

The dolls enjoyed a scenic drive after church.

  1. This post brought back great memories. When I was a kid my family quite often would take a ride on a Sunday afternoon. We would pack 7 people in the car (parents, grandparents and 3 kids) This was back in the days before seatbelts. We always stopped for ice cream on the way home. Fawn

My family also traveled every Sunday afternoon to grandma and grandpa's house. I remember learning how to drive grandpa's tractor.

  2. Beautiful church, however, did any of the children want a photo with Willow or Crystal during or after the service? Maybe my community is a little more curious, but I know that when I brought my doll out to an after school event- just an American Girl Club meeting in my classroom, a few of my students definitely wanted to hold her. I would love to do some extra traveling, so please share your secrets to capturing such great events like the parade and service picture opportunities. Thanks for sharing these picts with Rhoda's Willow.

Ticia, I waited until after church to take the photos. Absolutely the kids would have loved to get their photo with Willow and Crystal, but it was my off-day from teaching kindergarten and first grade Sunday school. What's interesting is that the first two people who asked me what was going on were middle-aged men (dads). Then came the women who were grandmas (who had just bought 18-inch dolls for their grandkids). This was my first time ever in public taking doll pictures. I have used an OG doll as Moses wrapped up in the basket to teach a lesson and it led to a lot of conversation. Another day a girl brought her doll and that produced conversation about dolls and toys. The Parade was a very difficult place to take pictures. I needed a buddy to help me, even though I took stands for the dolls. Stay tuned for Willow's other days as it became easier to walk around with dolls as I took more photos.

    2. Thanks so much for sharing. I will try to use your strategy of bringing the bag and the doll stand :)

Sorry Rhonda about misspelling your name on your blog. I just noticed that. Cant wait to see what else Willow will be up to. This is one of my favorite things to see on this blog. I just love it!

    3. Ticia, I wanted to tell you that the bag wasn't the best thing for the dolls' hair - messy. On future days, I used a doll box and carried under my arm.

  3. I had little girls holding Willow when she was in PA but I didn't take pictures for privacy reasons and I didn't let their moms take pics because I hadn't asked Rhonda about it first. They enjoyed talking to and about Willow though.

    1. For the record - Willow LOVES photos and it is fine with both she and I for any children to take a photo with he. I won't post them on LADL though to protect the children's privacy - but no need to ask permission. Willow LOVES kids and taking photos!!i

I didn't take any photos with Willow and girls, even though at the Parade of Lights there were bunches of children! With my church children, they like to have their picture taken and are happy when you just show it to them on the camera or phone. My husband (co-teacher) and I always delete them afterwards for privacy reasons. Most kids are in school when I'm out with Willow!

    3. When Willow was with me in WV I took pics of her with my grandson but always from the back of his head so his face didn't show.
I agree with you, Ticia, I love Willow's travel adventures!
