*REVIEW* OG Retro BITE TO EAT Diner + Close-Up Views

I asked Madelon if she would please send photos and review the OG Retro Diner. WOW! It's amazing!

She says it's a MUST HAVE and one of the best OG items she has seen in 15 years!!

This is all of the food that is still left over (even after displaying in the photos)!

It snaps onto the back easily.

Flip up blinds go up and down.

The stools can be positioned wherever you want them.

There are shelves behind the counter for more storage.

This would make a fabulous major birthday or holiday gift!!

Chrissa and Molly are both in OG Retro. The diner's counter lights up with batteries!

The bacon is separate from the eggs.

The counter lifts up.

Play money has separate pieces.

Juke box plays music with batteries.

She easily fits into the booth, food is attached to the plate.

Door opens and the shelves turn!!

The cake on the platter doesn't fit inside the display shelf, it's meant to display on the counter. The lid does remove.

The range of different foods is incredible!

Large plastic platter, two dishes, flatware and a pitcher.

Real chalkboard to write your order on.

Pink pay phone!

All of the pages are pre-printed!

This set would cost hundreds if it were AG.

Thank you Madelon!
WOWZERS!! Who is going to buy this? I LOVE it and may have to get rid of our living room sofa so I can have room for it!

  1. *From Julie's doll mom:*

Wow, talk aout cool! For $110, you get a lot of bang for your buck! This is so tempting, 'cos it would make a great "Sam's Snack Shack" for Julie and company. I don't know if I have the space. Does it fold easily for storage?

  2. No, it doesn't fold up for easy storage. It needs a special space in the home.

  3. It's on ebay for $199 already, along with all OG retro outfits and accesaries.

  4. Thank you for giving us a close up look at this.

Question: are all the main pieces (counter, booth) permanently afixed to that tile floor? or do they come off the floor to space them out? (if that does not make sense I can re-word)

    1. Amy, the pieces are attached. Here is a reader review left by Jenny on another OG post : http://livingadollslife.blogspot.com/2014/10/news-og-1950s-retro-diner-pink-car-in.html?showComment=1414110246834#c8664358901561269710

  5. I notice that they now have photos on the Target website, but it says it's not in stock. Last time I was at a Target near me they did have one, don't know if it was the only one though.

Sick and tired of people snagging all of this stuff to flip on Ebay. I'm still trying to recover from the sewing machine that seems to be impossible to find going for $100.

  6. That's an impressive playset - I can't believe the amount of detail (and all the play food)! Thanks for sharing this!

  7. Linda aka lab-den 18-inch doll fun on YouTubeOctober 29, 2014 at 8:38 PM

Just found this set Monday at my nearest Target. I unwrapped it and set it up today! I agree that it is the best OG set I've seen, although I've never seen anything close to this set. I am trying to get a YouTube video up soon. I only wish I could leave this set up in a place more prominent than our basement doll space.

  8. Bought this item as soon as I saw it at our Target store knowing it would be hard to get closer to Christmas! I asked 3 other family members to go on it $25 each and my granddaughter went wild when she saw it! It is an amazing set up and if it had been an AG item know it would have sold for no less than $400 considering all the pieces you get with it....so realistic and fun for even this grandma to play with....so realistic it brings back memories of when I was my granddaughter's age! The neon strip across the counter and the songs on the juke box are amazing! So sad to see the money mongers who bought this up just to triple the price on ebay and amazon! I visit Target often to keep my eyes open for more Our Generation items especially the Retro.

  9. I ordered this last week from Target, it was a ship to home with free shipping. Just came today, the box is huge. Looking forward to opening it soon!

  10. This set is so cute, that when I found it at a new toy store near Vancouver BC in Jan 2015, I splurged and bought it. It was $180 Cdn plus tax. Very expensive for me but so adorable. It does take up a lot of space. I have it displayed on my bedroom window seat.

  11. This is Amazing-I found one at Kid to Kid for $5.99-even tho it did not come with all of the accessories-I could not pass this up. It's in EXC working condition-so if you have years of collecting accessories like I have, it wouldn't hurt to check your second hand consignment stores.

  12. We found one today for $9 at Goodwill. I don't know if it had all the accessories, but it had a whole lot of them . it was adorable but I could not think of anyone to buy it for .... so cute.
