BEFOREVER - Thoughts

I've been asked what my thoughts about BEFOREVER are.
MIXED!!!

I am thrilled Samantha is back. I noticed each girl has a color scheme and we should expect it to stay that way and not grumble about everything being pink, purple, aqua or orange.

Addy is getting A LOT of attention, both good and bad, but that's OK at least she is getting attention. I love her clothing collection. The blues are gorgeous and soothing.

Kit's collection is mostly teal, yellow, and coral/melon. I'm not a fan of her collection and will wait to see other collectors posting photos and videos before I rule out current items.

Julie's collection is purple, yellow, orange and fuchsia.

Can you believe that EGG CHAIR?? Crazy cute.

I love the tie-dye clothing/accessories.

Caroline is confusing! She seems to have a peach/blush, corals and white theme with a "sudden" splash of aqua.

We saw THAT dress months ago! It will snag soo easily.

I'm not pleased with the re-incarnated NOLA treats table and fairy dress. How can it be 1853 yesterday and 1812 today? And to do this when the NOLA line didn't sell well is a huge risk.

Samantha's collection is certainly drenched in pink! The ice cream parlor is BEAUTIFUL ($300 expensive), I hope there are people who can afford it. Surely it has hours of fun play just waiting. It also looks easy to re-create. I'm not a fan of the newer bicycle. I love her bed, just wish it were in cherry or mahogany.

I'm not sure what to say about these shoes. It may have been the wrong execution of a right idea. I would love these in ivory with pink pearl buttons. And the dress, again satin is so easy to snag on velcro so it's a hazard just dressing the doll.

Rebecca is STUNNING! Her colors are purple and periwinkle (which I love).

We saw a peach version of this dress months ago.

Kaya had very little added: the Pow Wow Hair Set of Today.

Josefina's Meet outfit got freshening up, but we should be seeing more for her Spring 2015, including a mini doll.

I have to say I wish I could wear a girls size 16 because I would love to wear the Dessert Flower Dress.
Overall, I love the new photography and how each doll comes alive with cute and fun poses. I love the new clothing line for girls and I love the fact that this Launch was THIS exciting to cause me to blog  until 3am then get back on my computer at 7:45am. I think overall Addy stole the show, but Rebecca stole my heart.
EVERYTHING'S new!

Now!
What did everyone BUY????

  1. I love the outfit Julie is riding her bike in. Why couldn't AG have made that?

  2. I had some $ put by so we could get a few things for the launch. We bought Samantha's meet dress and wanted to buy Kit's but it doesn't ship to Canada which is weird because Kit with her dress on ships here. We also purchased the typewriter for Kit. An item we always wanted but can be crazy expensive on eBay. Have you heard if the ice cream parlour is made out of wood?

  3. I have to say that I love most of the new collection (with the exception of those glam-rock boots), and that the new girls clothes are gorgeous. I bought new meet dresses for Rebecca and Samantha. I also got Addy's school dress and lunch pail, and pyjamas and nighttime necessities for Sam. I am also from Canada and thought it odd that Kit's dress doesn't ship here. I love the ice cream parlor, but I would also like to know if it is made of wood before I start to save for it. Great coverage of the launch by the way, and thanks to the people who sent all the photos, they were fun to see.

  4. I didn't buy anything but I wanted to ask if you know if Kaya's face mold has changed. A lot of people are saying its now a bitty mold but I can't tell and I'm very confused.

    1. I don't think Kaya's face mold was changed, but her wig was raised so now she has a larger, more triangle shaped forehead.

  5. I have mixed feelings about the new Beforever items. I love the new Addy and all her new items. I'm not sure if I will be getting her but if I don't I will still like to get her meet outfit for my Cecile. I think it would like nice on her. I also love Rebecca's new meet outfit and the new purple dress. Samantha is cute and I really like her plaid holiday dress, but some of those things , like those weird looking boots.....What were they thinking? My daughter has Caroline and there is no way I would buy that new dress. It looks cheaply made. I wish they made her a dress made of cotton. Too bad they didn't have much for Kaya. I love that Sweater they made for the girls for Kaya's line I would wear that myself If I could fit into it. Kit looks cute. My daughter would like to get her. We prefer her older reporter dress. I hope I'm able to get it before it sells out. I was never really into Julie but I really like the new items she has. They are all very cute.
I also wanted to say Thank You to you and to all the people that have sent in these wonderful photos for all the Beforever items.

    1. My dd has Caroline, too and there is also NO WAY I am buying that gawd awful dress. And what the heck is up with the NOLA table? What were they thinking? I like Julie's coat (I had one just like it as a kid) and her tunic but those yellow shoes? Um no. Happy to see Kits typewriter even though the price doubled. I think Kaya's outfit looks like Saige and I want it in my size. I love all of Addy's things. Those are all coming home. I think the egg chair is a cute idea but it won't come here. I actually like Samantha and her ice-cream parlor but can't stomach all the pink…I am just not a pink fan.

    2. Tonya - I thought Julie's yellow clogs were cute in person. They don't stick out as much with the doll is standing and her pants cover part of them. I do wish for practicality and mix and match purposes that they made them in something like a brown suede. I remember having brown clogs during that time period. The egg chair is really cute, but you definitely need some space to display it. I'm with you on some of the girl's clothing. I wish I could drop some serious pounds and fit in the large size! ~ Maria

  6. I don't like the fact that Samantha's collection is mostly pink, but her coat and holiday dress is to die for! I just wish it didn't come with a tea set. I have too many of those! I do like that it comes with petit fours. A little throw back to Sam's birthday story. Speaking of that, I LOVE the ice cream parlor, and I think it just won over the VW (sorry Rhonda, lol). I was just looking at the illustrations in that story about the ice cream parlor. I'm glad they decided to focus on a different part of that story this time round, instead of the lawn party that was ruined by Eddy. Addy's collection isn't as bad as I thought. The one thing I don't like is that crinoline and chemise was included. Like sorry, we all know who that belonged to. I absolutely adore Addy's new school outfit. That outfit actually looks historically accurate! I'm also glad they kept Addy's shell necklace. Without it, her meet story does not come to life. I agree that although that boot style for Samantha DID exist, it did not come in that color. I'm also not too thrilled about the plastic glasses for Julie. I LOVE the egg chair, but I cannot justify $100 for it. My favorite collection thus far is Rebecca's. They did really well with her collection. The only thing I don't like is her director's set. $75? Where did they even GET that idea from? Its a chair, megaphone, and cardboard. Although I don't like Beforever 100%, I'm actually looking forward to more outfits this Christmas and in the future!

    1. Oh it's fine Maria. I love Tyson's ice cream parlor too. Though I will always love Julie's VW bug!

  7. I feel mixed. A lot of the items I really like but feel they're too pricey.

I want Samantha's holiday dress but don't want to spend $60 on the dress and tea set when the tea set is just going to be collecting dust. I have cats so I can't keep small objects out without them knocking them over.

I like some of Addy's new outfits. Very cute!

I'm loving some of Rebecca's new outfits. I ordered the purple meet outfit.

I also ordered Kit's new meet outfit. It reminds me so much of a photograph of my grandmother as a child.

    1. I agree that I don't want to spend $60 on a dress either, But I think that was intended to be a special edition set like the other 4. Samantha was a good seller after all.

I agree that I like Addy's new outfits too! Not too sure about Rebecca or Kit.

  8. Having seen the outfits in person at the launch yesterday (I sent Rhonda the Boston photos), I have to say that they look MUCH nicer in person than they do on-line. So if you like an outfit on-line, you will be even more thrilled when you see it in person! Things that might look tacky or cheap on-line are actually much more tolerable when they are sitting right in front of you.

I bought Rebecca's meet outfit and her new accessories. They are wonderful and the quality is great! I was actually on the fence about the hat in the store. It looked much too big and seemed like it was going to fall off the head of the display dolls. But when I put it on my Rebecca, I realized it had to be pushed down on her head and then it looks perfect! It's a tight fit, so I can see why someone would be nervous pushing it on, but it does not mess up her hair at all and will not fall off her head.

I almost bought Rebecca's new purple holiday dress, but I figured it would be available for awhile and I could wait. I recognized it as a remake of the peach dress seen on eBay. I thought it would look cheap in person, but that was not the case. It is gorgeous and her headband is adorable!

All in all the new colors really livened up the historical section in the store. To be honest, before BeForever, some of the historical collections looked very drab and boring on display. I think this really caused some kids to stay away from this section of the store. It was too much like a museum! I know the colors may not all be historically accurate, but seeing them all together definitely makes the collections more appealing and eye catching to the kids. The kids I saw yesterday seemed much more interested in the historicals than in all my past visits to the store! I guess their plan worked! ~ Maria

  9. Anyway, I wrote a post & it was deleted. So here we go again.

I got to visit Palo Alto today, I was left wanting with their new line. The only nice things were that Kit gets her typewriter back. Kaya gets a hair piece set and I left with one free book via your coupon post & a skiff! At first they were going to give me 3 but then the store manager came & said only one because of the fact that they were printed .... Oh well.

It was lovely to see a few other things I've wanted to see in person. I love their Corgi & Coconut... Just didn't know which to get..lol a few of bittys new things are cute. Addy was looking nice in her new meet dress, but it doesn't scream 1864...

    2. I managed to get two free books and I think my friend who was with me got three. We just went to different registers and sales clerks and presented one coupon at a time. We also had the coupons printed from here, not the ones that came in the mail and they took them without a problem! ~ Maria

    2. Went to AGLA and my daughter ran to the section since she loves mini dolls and she said, "OMG! What did they do to Caroline? I HATE THEM!" She then thought Kaya was ok and then thought Samantha was cute and reached up to look at her. When she touched her body she dropped her. She said, "Their plastic now!" My 8 year old disapproves. She liked them because they were mini versions of the big dolls.

    3. I bought Julie's meet yesterday and put it on Marie Grace today. Its so awesome! I didn't like it online but it is so fun and cheerful. I also picked up Julie's tunic. I wanted her coat from photos but it is too cheaply made for my liking. It felt like felt.

  11. I was going to post anthor comment before but it would not let me type. I ordered the Samantha doll,Samantha's frilly frock,Samantha's nightie, and last but not least Samantha's coat set. I will send in photos when the stuff gets here on tusday.

  12. Honestly I have only seriously checked out Kaya. All my other information is coming from everyone's review/reaction posts.

I am still on the fence. Admittedly, I will be happier if AG releases doll sized versions of the modern meet outfits that are currently available in girl sizes. That will add something new to Kaya's collection. what bothers me there is that you used to be able to get Kaya's bedroll separately and now you can't. It's with the teepee for $150 or not at all.

Note: The Queen's Treasures shoppe sets with additional signage are around $120. Not quite as elaborate as Samantha's new set, but a good start and all the crafty people could add DIY items to it and still be less than $300 plus shipping and tax.

    1. I have the QT Bakery Shoppe. I just bought 2 months ago on their Christmas in July sale for $50. It is the SAME quality as Samantha's set without the bells and whistles. I also bought the cupboard for $50. It was a total of $3.99 to ship it. I also ordered cookies, dishes, cupcakes all for 50% off. I found vintage shot glasses at an antique mall in KY for .59 cents each that look like Samantha's ice-cream holders. I am pretty crafty and will make our own ice-cream out of polymer clay. I love Sam's ice-cream parlor but I already had a head start on our bakery. This ice-cream parlor can be done for half. QT has a sale again before the year is out.
