RUMOR has it the Bitty Twin line is going to retire this spring! There is also RUMORED to be a 16" boy doll launching as a baby brother. It's unclear if the new boy is named Logan Everett or Emerson or if these are reserved for future dolls.
If you have Bitty Twins within your collection, you may want to consider buying any wanted items now to complete your collection.
LADL will continue to watch this RUMOR for updates.
Wow! I guess I kind of always knew the BT were on the backburner...and now they aren't in the catalog. I suspected Logan Everett was the next GOTY but that could be a boy line.
ReplyDeleteThoughts?
I was pretty sure American Girl stated they are focusing on girls, since they are American *Girl* after all, and wouldn't be making boy dolls. This seems so confusing. I wonder if this boy doll is part of the Wellie Wishers line of dolls, which are also rumored to be 16" cause the outfits for them that leaked on ebay don't fit 18" dolls.
DeleteThat's true. That's why I originally thought Logan was a GOTY. You're right...it is confusing.
DeleteNot sure what to think of a sixteen inch boy doll. Will it have the same body-type, but shorter, as the Truly Me dolls? Madelon
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I would like the 16 inch boy doll. It would make a lot more sense to make the boy doll 18" - in case you want to use them as something other than a younger brother. Sharon
DeleteI have been planning to buy an AG with light skin and brown eyes (other than those criteria I don't care) and re wig that doll using a blond wig left over from when I re wigged Kirsten, then cut the hair of that wig (which already had been cut by someone--I don't know who) to make a custom boy doll. Like Derek. Only I'd call him Travis (after a Youtuber I like watching). He would play parts such as Eddie Ryland or Ricky McIntire in my photo shoots.
DeleteMaybe by then this rumored boy doll will have come out. I don't know.

It's surprising but also... it's not. I mean, the bitty twins line has really been drooping in recent years (past 3 years maybe.) And with a push for boy dolls this would be a sensible marketing move. I just hope I can get those AA bitty twins one day, I really wanted them.
ReplyDeleteI think the new line might be called Wellie Wishers. But there was a skirt on Ebay with the tag "Wellie Wishers" and the skirt fit Barbies. I don't particularly like where AG is heading with this.
ReplyDeleteIt has been confirmed that the Wellie Wishers are a line. They are hopscotch hill school type.
DeleteI am sure when Bitty Twins came out not too many people were thrilled with it ether. Hence, now the twins may have run its course and AG needs a replacement. Boy dolls as little brothers might not be so bad. Many girls have younger brothers and I have seen quite a few boys want a doll of their own when they come to AG with their sisters. Hope AG does keep the girl theme in mind since girls are usually overlooked in Science, Math, History, Sports, Business and Engineering. It is nice to acknowledge that girls do have to share with their brothers, but its nice when girls can have their own place and time to shine too.
ReplyDeleteWhat! This is so confusing!I really wouldnt like thebitty twins to retire, lots of little girls(and big girls, like myself :P)use the bitty twins as a little brother and also you get two dolls for a better price.I dont knowit doesnt seem very liable that they would retire them,i mean they have a boy doll in there already and thats what my little brothers use when they play with me.I understand if they might make another 18" boy doll. But then custom buy dolls would be not worth much and it would kinda break the theme of well you now *cough cough*american GIRL.GIRl.it says GIRL right in the name.My little sister loves the gorl bitty twin and i think you get you money out of them, they were my first ag product and i still love them to peices as a teenager,my mom thought i was crazy when i freaked out about this,OH WELL.anyway thats just my opinion.
ReplyDeletethey are doing the same thing with them like when they archived Samantha and Nellie.
