*REVIEW* Costco American Girl Horse

The American Girl horse sold at Costco looks like the body of the Palomino Horse sold at American Girl for $75. This is a good set for the price.

Chestnut Horse (Costco)  compared to Palomino Horse. The fabric/fur is soft. The box calls it velvety. It is softer than the Palomino and the Prancing Horse.

The bridle is plastic, the rein is webbing.

Saddle from Costco horse compared to Saddle and Award Set

The apple is very similar to the apples from Caroline’s basket. The carrots look like the carrots for Julie’s pet rabbit. The brush has real bristles. The saddle is all plastic, the the stirrups seem to be metal.

*In Store Report* COSTCO

My Costco in WA state has the gift cards. Awesome if someone wanted to buy the newest deal, doll with bed.

Also….a horse!  The bristle brush has stiff bristles. They also had the pets, the ones that were available at Christmas time.

*Reader Photos* My Life As...Unicorn

I was so excited when Nonna from Mommy's Doll Club submitted photos of her My Life As...UNICORN! I had no idea they had these available last year.

"Here is the original Black Friday 2013 ad from Walmart.  The My Life As unicorn from Paradise Horses was released the week of Black Friday so I was able to get it before the madness.  They did still have them at my local Wally World after Black Friday.  The employees confirmed for me that it did not have a lower sale price on Black Friday than the original ad price of $27.97."

"The unicorn in full kit in the box.  We decided to call this one Lily. (I bought three, couldn't help myself. I didn't want them to be alone)."

"Lily's feet move really nicely."

"A close up of the decorative anklets before I cut them off.  They must have been put on as the unicorn was being put together."

"The original tag which I promptly cut off too.  I removed the bridle (which had nice tiny little plastic belt structures for removal) and saddle "blanket" which was attached with a small piece of velcro at the belly.  Everyone knows unicorns are wild and shouldn't be subject to such things."

"Joy and Bobo play with Lily.  I folded Lily's mane so you can see her pretty face.  The back of the box shows what it looks like just down.  It was sandwiched between two irritating pieces clear plastic that I had to creatively cut away. The tail came still wrapped in a clear bag. Both have thin iridescent strands mixed in with the white.  The ears are wired like other Paradise Horses."

"Joy is a little nervous as she says hello."

"Joy calls this one Sir Bobo.  (Being my only articulated 18 inch doll, Bobo was happy to be our sitting model)."

*Note:  Everyone is standing on top of a tablecloth on my dog's crate which means this unicorn really can stand up (but that's why the back hooves look wonky instead of flat).  Apologies for the interesting lighting...

Joy is a MAG JLY#65/F1273 with a hair cut.
Bobo is an original Sonja Hartman Kidz n Cats collection boy doll.

*Reader Photos* "Beauty" OG Horse

Heather sent in photos of a gorgeous white horse that she gave to her Saige!!!

"I found this horse at a garage sale for $3."

"I think that it is from Our Generation. It is kind of damaged, but still pretty. I call her Beauty."

"If this horse was from Our Generation, it sells for $34.99 at Target. I am so happy that I got it for a bargain price!"

*Opening* My Life As.... Horse for Saige

After the debacle with the Paradise horse, I went straight to Wal-Mart to get the Spotted horse for Saige.

He is really cute, though I made a few changes. Picasso's mane is more manicured, his bangs and tail are both shorter than this horse. I gave him a trim and think it improved the over all look.

His ears have wire so they are poseable.

Picasso has a black bridle and saddle, I may spray paint these black.

His hard plastic body has a spotted skin made of fabric.

Poseable hooves. I may paint these light grey like Picasso's.

Our version!

Overall I'm pleased with this horse. After the minor changes to his accessories and hooves, I think he will look very much like Picasso.

*Reader Photos* AG Picasso - Saige's Horse

Madelon has the REAL Picasso and shows him off here.
I requested photos of him so we could see the details.

He is a hard-bodied horse with a fabric overlay.

 The right front leg moves.

He is a male horse with no discernible anatomy.

Picasso is ready for Halloween!

Thank you Madelon, Picasso is so cute. I love his bangs!

*UPDATE* Paradise Horses - Too Small

Shelly placed an order for the Paradise Spotted Appaloosa horse from Kohl's the same time I did. Her horse arrived today and it is smaller than AG horses. Her invoice said ONE SIZE. I checked my invoice and it said ONE SIZE. I haven't received my horse yet, but Shelly thinks this horse is for 15" - 16" dolls.

I called Kohl's and the CSR could not give me a size. And there isn't one indicated online.

I'm giving those of you who ordered a heads up. I'm disappointed, the online description should indicate the size. The blue car didn't have a size listed either, but 18" dolls are riding around in it. I've seen lots of photos.

Another resource for a spotted horse great for Saige. I'll be buying this horse and returning the other back to Kohl's. Frustrating.

The black horse would be great for Kaya.

I had originally wanted this black horse, but the store was out so I got Zachariah instead.
