Addy's (1993) Trunk $159 was modified in 2007 then retired 2012.

 Wooden trunk with lid. Two handles on either side. Black nail and iron trim. Linings of Harper's Weekly newspaper on lid and interior. Lift out tray with round ends; "secret compartment" under wood panel on tray can be pressed open to lift off cover for three small compartments. Interior has two compartments.

 The trunk originally had black iron hinges and a black latch and wood-peg with cord closure. In 2007, the trunk was modified. The lid was later modified to lift completely off and has two handles for opening. The front closure was modified into a purely decorative latch.

Michael's has ready to finish wooden trunks in various sizes. The original six girls from the American Girl collection each had one. I recreated smaller versions of both Felicity's Travel Trunk and  Kit's Dresser Trunk.

Addy's trunk measures W: 23" x H: 12" x D: 11".

I would love to own Addy's trunk. For those of you who want a DIY project, this may be a more affordable option. If you have the ORIGINAL trunk or a DIY version, please submit a review for readers to enjoy.

DIY Fireplace - Version Two (Tiled)

Another easy idea is to use the same tutorial from version one. This time use tile print papers.

This vertical size fireplace is great for smaller rooms or for vintage kitchens.

DIY Fireplace - Version One (Brick)

It's spring...fireplaces may be on your spring cleaning list. I have a few ideas to share with you on making quick, SIMPLE, affordable fireplace facades for your doll rooms. These can be done using items around your house.

Supplies:

• 8x10" box, (cereal, cracker, snack box)
• Brick scrapbook paper 
• Black paint
• Glue
• Scissor

 Instructions: 

1. Cover the box in brick paper.
2. Paint a black square in the lower center.
3. Glue on the log/flame download*.
4. Add a mantle, made from cardboard or a piece of wood.

You may choose to add a mirror or framed picture over the fireplace to decorate your doll space.

DIY Lea's Wooden Table

Hobby Lobby has Basswood Country Wood round that's perfect for Lea's table top! This one is oblong in shape.

 

This one is more rounded.

They're thick and sturdy!

Also the dowels are across the aisle.

These can work as table legs.

DIY - TV Screens for TM Flat Screen

As soon as I saw the entertainment center I knew it would need more screens, so here is how to add more screens for your doll's TV entertainment set.  This is how the new screens will look, I made this one.

What you will need:  Clear Full sheet size sticker paper and clear protector sheets.  I found these small size protector sheets for $1.99 at Office Depot.

Select the pictures you want to use and size them to fit a template. 

 I created a template that fits two pictures on one full sheet of paper.

Print the pictures unto the sticker paper and cut inside the black border. Stick the printed sticker unto the clear plastic protector.

Cut off the extra plastic and then insert into the AG Flat TV and turn it on.

The results are terrific and will enhance your doll's TV privileges.

HTM - 1950s Retro Diner for Maryellen

I made this quick diner with items I had around the house. I used a box for the counter then embellished it with scrapbook paper. All of the printables were featured at the start of the week.

These little chairs I made from 4x4 boxes and foam sheets, they are from my modern kitchen, but fit right in this diner scene.

Maryellen is busy working on her feet all day....

 In between customers, she takes a break to sit down.

DIY - Retro Sweet Snack Shack

Here is a great DIY project from aghollyk on instagram!! I designed all the colors to match the menus and hats that American Girl Ideas designed.  Hazel, MyAG 21, is my 50's doll for these pictures.
