*Reader Photos* DIY Doll Hammocks

I ran out of floor space for beds, so I thought I’d make a hammock for Lea.  I found tutorials online.  My daughters have a bunk bed, and wanted hammocks for their dolls.

DIY - Bedding for Rebecca

I do not own Rebecca's original or BF bed. After making Samantha's BF half canopy bed, I decided to let Rebecca use Samantha's original brass bed.

She needed bedding and I made a simple white cotton coverlet trimmed in eyelet lace.

HTM - Matilda's Tudor Bed + Room Tour

This was a fun project. Quite easy in fact. All it required was cutting a lot of rectangles out of cardboard.

After cutting the pieces and arranging them I used craft glue to set them in place and ran a bead of hot glue around the edges.

Followed by a coat of brown paint and glossy Mod Podge.

I trimmed the raw edges of the cardboard in brown craft foam.

I found rich looking velvet in burgundy for the bedspread, and finished off the edge in a detailed trim.

I made pillows using a gorgeous brocade then added gold tassel corners.

Matilda shares the long room with other maids her age. If you want to make a Tudor bed and room for your Matilda or Princess doll, here are some ideas.

DIY - Samantha's White BEFOREVER Bed (Photos)

I like Samantha's new BeForever bed, but I have no plan to buy it. If Samantha's new Half Canopy Bed is out of price range for you and some of the younger readers want to make it, here's how.

Samantha's Bed & Bedding $150

Samantha thinks this bed is fit for a princess. The set includes:
  • A white wooden bed with fancy flowers and faux caning details
  • A luxurious canopy that drapes over the extra-tall headboard
  • A pretty white bedspread with floral embroidery and lace trim
  • A round bolster pillow with button accents
  • A satiny pink mattress and pillow

Supplies:
  • AG doll box
  • Extra card board or foam board
  • Cane print scrapbook paper
  • White paper or foam sheets
  • Pink fabric
  • White lace trim
  • Wooden decorative medallions

I covered two pieces of cardboard with scrapbook paper, then cut out decorative moldings using white craft sheets to frame each. I embellished with wooden decorative pieces and used paper flowers.

After attaching the head and foot boards, I glued another foam sheet inside the foot board to clean things up. I covered the tall backboard in pink paper, hot gluing everything along the way.

I also covered the sides of the bed in white craft sheets to cover the card board box.

I cut two cornice pieces using foam board, then glued one to the back board.

I glued the canopy drapes onto the cornice gathering as I went. After trimming off the excess fabric to reduce "bulk", I glued the second cornice piece on top (sandwich style).

Using a craft foam sheet as molding, I trimmed out the cornice. Next I tied back the canopy drapes with strands of rosettes.

TBT - Molly's Red Bed + Nightstand, Vanity and Curl Kit

Molly's AG Bed is now retired. However it looks VERY EASY to re-create. Her bedding and matching headboard are red corduroy and her pillow is candy stripe red. I have Molly's bed, but needed one for Emily. The following photos are from Nov 2012 at my first attempt. I have since made Emily a different bed.

First attempt! I went to three different stores
(Hobby Lobby, Joann's, & Hancock Fabrics)
but could not find RED corduroy, so I bought red felt.

I couldn't find red/white candy striped cording either so I bought ribbon.

I used a piece of cardboard for the headboard.

Sleep tight Molly! Sweet dreams....

Molly’s Nightstand

When Molly’s finally ready to go to sleep, she can store all her things in this bright white, wooden nightstand with cherry red accents to match her bed. The pullout shelf and drawer offer plenty of room for her favorite books, glasses, and more.

Molly’s Nighttime Necessities

Molly gets ready for bed with these accessories:

  • A hot-water bottle to keep her feet warm
  • An authentic Nancy Drew mystery book from 1944, The Quest of the Missing Map
  • A bedside lamp that really works
  • An alarm clock to help her rise and shine

Molly’s Vanity Table

While preparing to land the part of Miss Victory, Molly wants nothing more than to have beautiful, curly locks. This vanity set helps her get her wish:

  • A wooden dressing table and fabric-covered stool
  • A fabric skirt that slides open to reveal a storage drawer underneath
  • A decorative, three-panel mirror that sits on top
In Molly’s day, a permanent wave kit cost about $1.25! See all this one includes:
  • A pretend blow dryer that sounds real when switched on
  • A permanent wave box with nine perm rods, a pack of perm papers, and a perm solution bottle
  • A hair net, 24 bobby pins, two tortoiseshell hair combs, a doll-sized hairbrush, and instructions
