 I finally finished the 80s outfits!!

This is the rock n roll look. Her snakeskin pants, net top and biker boots are what I would wear.

 

I added the patch onto the back.

This is the outfit she came in. I added the net leggings.

Pick up a few fabric pieces, (I used 1/4 yard for each) to sew extra pieces to add to your mix n match pieces that you already have.

Putting an 80s bedroom together was fun. Colorful.

1980s DIY Fashions American Girl Courtney Moore *AG Look 4 Less*

 

Truth be told, as I began this project, my sewing machine stopped working :-(

The show must go on! I made the denim vest more streamlined, it was too boxy, then I added a jeweled cross.

 

I had to use glue to make the over sized leather purse.The simple straight skirt and matching tie belt can be used as a shirt tie as well.

Its so super easy to distress and fade denim. You can go heavier on the white paint for a more acid wash.

DIY 1980s Courtney Moore Inspired *AG Look 4 Less*

 Hey Courtney fans, (AG new historical doll from 1986), here is a DIY project you can try with ANY doll. Courtney's fashion are totally tubular and we're gonna show you how you can make some rad DIY outfits to add to your 80s doll scenes. 

I picked up Lacey, an 18" Play Zone doll from Big Lots. She was $20, any doll will do, but I chose Lacey because her hair was big and full!

 

She came with a white tank with a gold star on front, a vinyl moto jacket, black boots and a hot pink tulle organza skirt.

I also purchased this $8 fashion set. It included animal print leggings, black flats, a gray t-shirt and a denim vest. 

 We'll be making outfits and picking up a few accessories for Lacey. You can make any doll into a 1980s doll - we'll show you how on the AG look 4 Less. Stay close!

A LOOK at 1986 Fashion

 

 

 Acid wash denim was very in.

Paint splattered clothes, ruffled tuxedo tops, over sized knit sweaters in neon colors and loafers were what the preppy kids wore. I hung around with the rockers and we all wore spandex, leopard prints, leather jackets and leather pants. I owned a pair of pink dyed leather pants and a black leather mini skirt, a black moto jacket and a denim jacket with fringe. We wore high heel pumps with everything.

 

 

 

Hair was moussed, sprayed, teased high or slicked back on one side.

 

Jewelry was plastic, colorful and BIG.

 

Every girl owned a Caboodle. I had two. The two-toned pink and mint green, and the purple. It was easy to carry for sleepovers or on vacation to the mountains.

 

Mine was filled with banana clips, scrunchies, lip stick, eyeliner, Lip Smackers, frosted pastel eye shadows, mascara and Loves Baby Soft.

Teen girls in the late '80s had to have a Caboodles organizer—the bright plastic cases filled with trays for organizing their makeup. Now, the vintage organizers are back.

They were inspired by tackle boxes. The colors came from hair dryers. The tagline  "THE WHOLE KIT 'N' CABOODLE GOES INTO A CABOODLE!" The first boxes, called "on-the-go organizers," hit the market in 1987. (I was 18)
