Nonna's Printables: Unicorn Themed Groceries

Nellie loves Dazzle Berry flavored unicorn fruit snacks! Have you seen them in your stores? Nonna made some printables so we can have as many as we want in our dollhouse!

To make the boxes, use white American letter sized (8 ½ by 11 inch) card stock:

To make the individual snacks, use plain white copy paper also in the American letter size:

You will find 2 boxes of fruit snacks and 1 Magic Cupcake flavored cereal box on the BOXES printable . The fruit snack box says it contains 22 packs of snacks. There are 46 printable snack wrappers. This gives you two extra to learn with and not be short any snacks if you are going for accuracy.

To make the boxes:

Cut out the boxes as shown in the image below. You want to leave room where indicated with the white spaces. The blue lines running next to the images are a cut guide. To best adhere your boxes, these white spaces provide more gluing surface.

Cut the tabs for each box and fold appropriately along a straight edge (Nonna’s Pro Tip: If you use the edge of table or desk to fold, as you roll the paper over the edge, gently pull the paper toward you and pinch it to create a better crease in exactly the right place). You can stop here and glue everything up if you don’t want your box to open.

If you want your fruit snack box to be able to be opened and closed, carefully cut out the closer tab on the fruit snacks leaving extra of the pink area than the “real” label so your tab is longer and will catch. Match your trim on the other side before cutting. Use a pencil to mark if you need to.

If you want to make some individual snacks, cut those out leaving a tail on each one in front of the front image (as partially shown below. The small fold is the tail I am talking about. It is just extra white in front of the front image. Apparently I missed a photo!). Save the trimmed pieces.

Place the image face down on the sticky side of a piece of tape taking care NOT to attach the “tail” (I used clear packing tape). I found that creasing the white “tail” part only then rolling it into flat worked best. (If you have struggles with fine detail work, try holding the paper with tweezers). Use some of the trimmed pieces crumpled up to make it look like your packet contains fruit snacks. I started with two crumpled up pieces and then switched to one (which I found to be easier not to get stuck in the tape as I closed things up).

To close the fruit snack packet, slowly bring the non folded edge to the folded edge keeping the fold inside. Press that edge of the tape together then press the tape on the sides together. As I only have two hands, I could not get an image of that for you but I offer this tip: if you find your tape is sticking on the sides before you want it to, go ahead and put your fingers over the tape on the sides until you have the first edge lined up.

My first attempt is at the right then the middle. It took a couple tries before I was able to get things lined up so I was happy. The single paper strip shown is the size I ended up using for the rest of the crumpled insides.

To get a nice tight seal, pinch right next to the image ON BOTH SIDE AT THE SAME TIME with your finger nails. Trim off the tape as close as you feel comfortable. A little white showing is absolutely fine and appropriate to how they looked in real life. Take care not to cut the adhesive off. You will have an overhang of clear edge on three sides.

Here’s the finished project! The glue stick is propping up the cereal box which does not stand up straight because my gluing skills were bothersome.

Looks like Little Man just woke up and wants some cereal…now where did that bowl go?
