Over the last four years, LADL has had Q&A segments both here and on YouTube.
This will be the last Q&A for LADL, so please be sure to participate. It's open to ALL readers USA / International. Simply leave your doll related question in the comment section below, then look for the Answer post to all questions.
How long have you been collecting ag dolls?
ReplyDeleteAre you going to keep any of your AG dolls after your big doll purge, and if so, which ones and why?
ReplyDeletewhat are you doing after your blog makes its final post?
ReplyDeleteThe Big Shift!!!!!! This is so hard for me in so many ways!!!! My 7 year old Daughter and I need this blog in our Daily Life. It is so pure. We will have a void when it ends. I went to American Girl Doll Place Houston Store yesterday, it was a good and bad trip, good in that we love all the new stuff, bad in that is is all so over priced till there is a sale, and often then, you still feel you are still paying too much. To see Lea's Hut be $197 on their website says that you bought it for too much, when it 1st came out, so... now if you need to down size and sell it, the value is worth less then 150 used in perfect condition and you better have all the parts, lol.... So, I can kind of understand that a shift is taking place in our World which means things like the blog ending...and losing the gift of plugging in to the most Wonder American Girl Brand Doll Company Fans in the World daily. Thr shift in our World has me looking for a job at 50, and not wanting to put my 7 year old Daughter in Daycare in the Summer and after school when School starts. She never been in daycare, in my own Business I always took her to work with me. All this also means a very little time at home to even play with American Girl Dolls. So, my post is not a question but a big, I love you all, this has been a priceless and incredible journey with you all. God Bless You All, especially Rhonda and you will always be a part of our Heart's and Hope Faith's Baby Book. I wish each of You the very, very best life has to offer. Sincerely, Maxine Ok, 1 Question? Why do great things have to come to a end?
ReplyDeleteI agree Maxine. I will miss contributing to this blog very much. It has been part of my life for years. Everyone here shares their love of dolls with kindness and respect. I hope that I can find a way to communicate with everyone still. I stopped looking at new American Girl items as an investment a while ago, when AG became so unpredictable. To me, they are to be used. my favorite toys growing up were the ones I wore out. I prefer to buy at a discount and will still look for sales. Will probably buy less at AG with the high price and plastic. I believe God has wonderful things in store for you and your family. I know you will keep the faith! Keep in touch! Madelon
DeleteGetting up for morning routine I cannot help but read the blog posts and ponder about our LADL world. I have agreed, vented in agony over changes and even shared my love of dolls with you all. It will be hard to fill the void. I totally agree 100% about change being hard and people having to move on even when it's so much easier to just be still out of fear of the unknown. Having a son join my world soon has made me wonder what will AG do in the future with Logan and their new trend? Does that mean more boy dolls and if so will American Girl still be supportive of issues affecting our daughters? My husband has learned so much about girl empowerment from this site and how much fun doll collectors can have when honesty about the industry is honored in a respectful way amongst peers. I am old enough to know that blogs are hard to protect from trolls who do not understand how hard women had to work to feel empowered and therefore pass it on to others. But Rhonda you did it and showed us what it is like to run a beautiful blog that maintains and demands that we be respectful and vigilant of a changing world for our daughters and sons to look up to. I am not sure how my son will view our collection, but I am hoping like his father that he will have a wonderful appreciation for his family and how much he is loved. Boy scouts, fishing and camping will be in our future because I myself was in girl scouts and we support activities that help build character, but my son will live in a world of being called adventurous while unfortunately my daughters with the same sense of adventure are labeled bossy and sassy by some who do not know the stigma of words. AG has helped me when I was young with these issues of labeling , so it was important to keep our collection alive and LADL is forever in our hearts for giving us that forum to be heard. Thank you all for helping to make this community such a beloved one.
DeleteI am just in tears. I love this blog and each of you so much.God bless each of you. Please get my cell number from Rhonda and send me your Doll world stuff, once or twice a week. We have to stay in touch Ladies.
DeleteTicia, I second your sentiments. I hope we all stay in touch past December 31. Madelon
DeleteWill someone else take over this blog (ex: Maxine, Madelon, etc.)?
ReplyDeleteAnd if no-one will, can you (or anyone) recommend any AG-related blogs or sites that could fill the void that LADL is going to leave?
DeleteHI Yukari, I have a doll blog and at the top of my blog you will see a tab for other Blog friends who have terrific blogs. Jen @ DollsBetweenUs https://dollsbetweenus.wordpress.com

It's sad to see this blog go. When I was considering getting a Disney Animator Doll it was your reviews that convinced me to go for it. But change happens and sometimes you've got to go with flow.
ReplyDeleteMy question would be: Will you be shutting down LADL completely or leaving the site with the old blog posts up for a while?
Will you collect any other types of dolls in the future...paper dolls, Barbie, etc.?
ReplyDeleteWill you continue buying new items for your older PC dolls or will you no longer buy from AG?
I love this Blog.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever fell in love with a doll unexpectedly, or do you have an especially good memory of when you received a particular doll?
ReplyDeleteWhat attracted you to American Girl dolls when you first saw that you wanted to invest in your first one? What made you want to buy more once you decided to buy another and another?
ReplyDeleteIf you could buy Mattel tomorrow, what changes would you make or bring back to the American Girl line aka brand?
Do you have any suggestions on books for doll collectors to read or purchase? Would you consider one day writing a book about your experience with doll collecting once you leave blogging and LADL?
Finally, what do you think of the changes made to modern dolls & doll companies and do you think dolls will one day become obsolete?
During your downsizing, which doll was the hardest to purge? Which item was hardest to eliminate?
ReplyDeleteOh no! I can't believe this blog will end! That is very sad. I will miss seeing all the great posts that provide a lot of fun and information. I sent a question earlier about the history of JLY boxes not knowing that this will be the last Q&A. Thanks for all your work :)
ReplyDelete-Do you still plan on keeping any of your dolls?
ReplyDelete-Will you still be posting about your dolls on instagram?
-Beforever/Historical or GOTYs?
-What is your favorite TM doll?
-Will you continue posting to AGIG?
ReplyDelete-Since you will end the blog this year, will you still post the GOTY?
-Will/can someone take over this blog? I cant bare to see it end completely ;(
I will definitely miss this , but i know its for the best!
I was very sad to hear that this blog will be shutting down :/ It has been my main source for AG/other dolls news and info. Also given me courage that people don't have to grow out of liking dolls, that you can have fun and collect/play with them as an adult. I'm really going to miss the scenes by Linda, they are all so wonderful :( There are so many posts that have given me idea's and inspiration of what I want to do with my dolls someday. Right now I do not have room but that is a temporary problem. My biggest question is do you have any recommendations of other blogs that could possibly fill the void for AG news and info once this blog stops? I have tried to find others but I keep finding ones that do not update at all or very infrequent with focus on other things. Also are you closing the blog because you do not like the direction AG is going in? or something else? whatever the reason I hope you will enjoy your life as much as you did with the dolls and not let others bring you down :) Thank you for all that you have done.
ReplyDelete-Will you still be collecting any non AG dolls and if so, which ones?!?
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see you go Rhonda, I'm a huge fan and cheerleader for you against the haters!!!
I'm glad to see that your relationship with the one, true God is still going strong, He is the only thing any of us really need.
Best of luck on your future and God Bless :)
