*NEWS* AG Responds - No Perma-Panties

This is why I LOVE blogging. All of you spoke out on social media and on doll blogs and AG listened!

Congratulations on having your voice heard and thank you AG for this redeeming decision.

  2. This is AWESOME news! I am also glad that AG chose to post what steps they are taking in the future, versus what they have done in the past, and that was to just implement the change, without communicating the change. My girls are going to be so thrilled! Now over to AGFB, to say thanks.
Next thing I hope they fix is the freebie stuff for review. If I remember correctly, there was an e-mail to the reward member to earn 10 points for each review. So, I posted to AGFB that the You Tuber gets an item, say a doll to review, free. While the reward member only gets 10 points/review. As a reward member I'd have to write 2,200 reviews to earn $110 in reward certificates to get a free doll. If the You Tuber got a doll and desk, then as reward member I'd have to write 4,400 reviews. to earn $220 reward certificates. BUT I can't save the certificates to purchase a doll, and typically people review products they buy, so I'd have to review 4,400 AG products, does AG even have 4,400 products for sale, and then I'd still have to buy the 4,400 products to earn a free doll, so I'm better off setting up a You Tube account, and getting a doll free rather than buying AG product. AG didn't respond to the post, but I hope that it got passed along.

    1. They only honored the 10 points per review up to four reviews. So 40 points was the maximum amount you could receive. It was in fine print. :(

    2. I agree. They have a lot of fences to mend. This is a good start.

    3. Rebecca, that further proves the point that as a reward customer, we get the short end of the stick. I understand that a company needs to advertise their product, and the reviews are one way of achieving that goal. I don't have a problem with a company offering promotions to get new customers. However, when those rewards are perceived as being better than the rewards to loyal customers, there is a problem. What if as a YTer, I get freebie items for review, but I don't like them and I decide to put them on eBay to sell. I've seen some people on eBay pay more than what they can pay for the items new from AG. What a sweet deal that is! Just like where those 20% coupons to new customers end up. I've seen the majority of coupons go for $20. Hopefully AG sees what they are creating.

  3. The best news ever!!!!!!!! And to do my part to help them, I will keep my Z as is and start thinking about which Truly me I want to purchase next. She is going be Redhead. I love the new meet outfit. I hope they get ride if the hard Plastic Shoes it come with, if that is a true and correct rumor. I am so happy about this. Thanks for the report.

  4. Wow! I'm absolutely thrilled to hear this! Except what sucks is that we already bought a body to replace Z's. I guess we could always use that one for a custom doll. I already bought my daughter pretty much every doll that I knew she'd want and put them away for holidays before hearing this news. Guess I won't have to purchase any dolls, but Nanea for a while. Hopefully we'll be able to purchase the new truly me outfit separately.

  5. This is awesome. Love that they are beginning to fix issues such as these. Hope they address the double standard involving Gabby v. other original new dolls. My husband has yet to find a Gabby uniquely different from my TM 46. It will be hard to do, but I hope he can prove me wrong because I would love to support her character and try to embrace her as a new doll.

  6. First quarter 2017 should have been huge for American Girl with the release of Gabriella, Tenney, Logan and Felicity. People didn't buy becuase of the packaging, permapanties and mistreatment of Gabriella. They finally woke up. Madelon

  8. I hope this will include going back to the thicker material and neck strings. The zip tie will go through the thinner cloth. I wanted to get "Z", but I did not want the permapanties. So now I can't wait until she is made right. What do you think about the zip ties?

  9. cue Handel's Hallelujah chorus....
I wonder if as an international customer if I do an over phone order they can just do the body swap there and then rather than the to-ing and fro-ing, hmm, I'll have to ask

  10. ACtually I just changed some of my doll's clothing today. It is easier when there are no ties. I think AG put ties on the dolls to stop people from removing the heads so easily. Dunno..could be wrong.
