  1. I wonder if this will tie into the leaked monogrammed dress.

    1. I was thinking the same thing. I am hoping the silver shoes are not part of the outfit. I hope they replace them with golf socks and shoes.

    2. The silver shoes look like Gabriela's shoes for the sequin outfit. Maybe they were put together, but don't go together.

  2. No words. Why do they keep thinking of more things for the character who was fundless!

    1. You are right. I don't recall in any of the books, including the mystery books (except the new mini golf being mentioned? With the economy being bad, that there were food lines, was there really mini golf? One of the books, they talk about the theater having a hard time making ends meet. It does look neat, but just seems that AG wants to 'modernize' the Beforever line, which I understand, and perhaps that is why they removed all the pictures. For those that collect or have read the older books, all of the new items seem out of place. I thought I read somewhere that someone compared the older books to the Beforever books and found some differences. I don't recall them being big differences, maybe just words, but I don't recall exactly. At the time, I didn't think it was a possibility. When I read your comment and thought about how they much they changed Melody's story in the movie, and Kit's story was changed as well. then I started thinking. Since they removed the pictures in the books, do you think AG would change some things in the books to maybe fit their modernizing?

    2. The author of this Beforever review, from 2014, makes some good points about the changes that were made to the outfits when AG changed to Beforever. Similarly, some one on the Beforever quiz post, picked up on the girl portraying Kaya smiling, which is also on the cover of some of the Kaya Beforever books. https://soratothamax.wordpress.com/2014/05/14/american-girl-beforever-2/

    3. I understand the point made about the Depression Era economy; but couldn't this be an example of homemade fun? I could see Aunt Millie coming up with a way of making this by re-using items friends and neighbors already have.

    4. That is a great point. I didn't realize that mini golf was started in the 1920's. During the Depression, they used what was available, used tires, gutters, etc. It wasn't until the 1950's that mechanical hazards were used. For me, When I look at Kit's scooter, I can see that it is made with items lying around. Seeing this picture of the windmill, I don't get the same impression. However, that doesn't mean it couldn't have been made. Here is an article on the history of mini-golf: http://mentalfloss.com/article/19567/zany-history-mini-golf
Here is a link for Popular Science November 1930 magazine, there is an article about mini golf p. 22,23,136 & 137 There is also an article on making your own parlor golf hazards with dimensions and directions on p 82 & 83

    5. It seems like AG is making a play for girls who are into Her Interactive gaming like Nancy Drew. In one of the games Nancy is in the 1930s and she stumbles on a mini golf course. If you look at the picture on the AG golf set of the woman holding the club, it echoes the Nancy Drew icon a little from back in the day of the original Nancy Drew with the bobbed hair and classic pencil skirt. With AG introduction of the tablet and more online options it looks like they are trying to appeal to the Her Interactive and gaming community. Even in an upcoming Rebecca carnival set, you knock down a set of bottles. This was also in the Nancy Drew game with the merry-go-round at the amusement park. Common themes yes, but a new direction for AG which is nice and remincent of Addy puppets and stage set from the early years of AG.

    6. The windmill might be an old garden decoration from one of the ladies from Kit's mother's garden club. In that case, I highly doubt that it would be a mechanical hazard. Wind is all that is needed to turn the blades. I'm really trying to make my little theory work.☺
