*Review* Opening MyAG #46 - Desiree

My collection lacked a Sonali face mold and I was trying to decide between #46 and #47....then determined I wanted curly hair.

This doll was described as "like new" condition. She is not! She is in USED condition! Her meet outfit was faded and I felt they could have at least WASHED it. I had to use a pre-treat stain pray and it came out of the wash looking much better.

After a Magic Eraser bath, I tightened her legs, she is free of any marks, scratches or scuffs.

I'm still struggling with the left side of her hair, in front the ends are a bit dry. I'm going to have devote some time to styling her hair.

She has feather brows and I love the tone of her skin, she is so pretty!!!

I named her Desiree!

  1. Great job. Her hair will require work but I know you will get it like new soon. For me, Bosley steals the show, He is so adorable. P.S. I think the sonali face is beautiful.

  5. Rhonda,
I am sure you know how to fix her hair, but I thought I would recommend watching a YouTube video of someone at the American Girl store fixing this type of hair. My daughter has Cecile, and even though she has taken excellent care of her hair, it gets frizzy. I tried many things, but on the AG website they just recommend finger curling. If you watch the American Girl stylist do it, she actually brushes some of it and then twists it. I thought it was interesting that they recommend one thing, but do another in the salon. Anyway, I tried what the stylists did and between a mix of brushing, twisting, and using medium pink perm rods (to tighten up stray curls that did not want to perk back up) Cecile's hair is looking great! I can't wait to see what you do to fix it, and am hoping you do a blog post on it. =) Good luck, she is pretty!

    2. You are welcome!!! I know you will do a great job. I had a really hard time with the finger styling myself, which is why I brought up the twisting. =) Can't wait to see how great she looks.

  6. Hi Rhonda,

Your Desiree is beautiful. I have a #46 and the trick is to brush out a curl, wet it with a little water and finger curl it using the wire brush. The good news is that your doll has a fuller wig where she seems to have more hair to curl. Lately, the hair in the wigs look a little sparse for the dolls. Don't give up! Once you have conquered it, you will love her even more.

    2. I will try to load a how to video on my channel over the weekend on how I curl #46 Ulianna 's hair. Yes, I got inspiration from a southern lady who had the name and thought a U name would be cute. Stay tuned.
