DIY Samantha's Serving Cart & Summertime Treats

Linda has done an amazing job at re-creating this set.

I used the wheels off of my popcorn machine. The top, bottom and serving tray were the bottom part of greeting card boxes. I used scrap lace for the trim. PVC pipe for the poles. Bendable straws cut down for the tray and cart handles. The boxes were already white, but the serving tray was silver. I just covered that with a paper towel. I bought the chair at Hobby Lobby for about $9.00.  It was yellow. We spray painted it white.  I bought the material at Jo Ann’s and covered some foam I had.

The fan is made from corn dog sticks and gathered lace.  My husband cut the sticks to size then stacked them and drilled a hole and I threaded wire into it so the fan would open and close. You could also just fan out the sticks and glue them, but the fan would not close. I made a little tassel out of colored string that I already had and pot a pony bead on it and tied that to the fan.

For the napkins, I just cut a six inch square from an old white sheet and used a decorative stitch on the sides.

The glasses and pitcher were a simple set that I bought my daughter about 30 years ago. The flowers were odds and ends of some I already had.  The vase is a shot glass that I got from Good Will for about .49c.  I had the small plate with a matching cup.  I bought the doily at Jo Ann’s.  I made the petit fours from Sculpey Clay and I like mine better for play value because unlike AG, mine are individual and not stuck together. I mixed white with their yellow, pink and green to get a softer color.
