*Reader Photos* Catching Bugs at Summer Camp

Linda's dolls are busy at summer camp!

I bought Sculpey Clay to make the insects, but had not used it before and had to hurry to get this done.  I was going to use small jars and put netting on them to hold the insects, but when I saw these button jars at Michael's for $1.50 (.97 cents after coupon)  I thought I could use them and use the buttons for another project.  Each jar is filled with assorted buttons the color of the button lid.  Waiting in line at the opening of a new Joann's, I was one of the first 100 customers and won a $20.00 gift card, so I used some of the money to buy insect buttons.  The lady bugs needed me to use a black sharpie to blacken their heads.

Caroline is so happy to have caught another butterfly.  The butterflies I found at Michael's, clearance for $1.97, regularly $3.99.  There were six in a clear plastic case.  They are brads, so I just wrapped one on the netting and the other on to a stick.  I made the butterfly net from a Dollar Tree bubbles kit.  I cut the netting from an onion bag and loosely hand sewed it on the hoop.

  2. Thank you. I wouldn't even know how to begin. I really enjoy doing things with my "girls". I just started using the computer last year and don't know much about it. Rhonda gave me my start when I stumbled on her blog and she asked her readers to send in one picture of a tea party. Well, after she posted my first picture,I was hooked! Thank you Rhonda for opening new interests in my life!

      Hey Linda,

If a person like me, who is permenantly stuck in the 70s can blog, anyone can. It's as easy as sending e-mail. Load pics, type, that's pretty much it. Give it some thought, and when you check out a blog, click that "create blog" button. I'd love to see what you come up with!

  3. Thank you Julie Ann Newman for the encouragement! I am so busy this summer, but maybe after school starts again, I'll try. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I have wanted to do a classroom for the girls for some time now, also a swim team. Think of a lot of things, but not much time or space.

  4. How do you sign up for Camp Doll Diaries? I know the site is retiring, but is there an actual event? Molly is interested if she can get her loose limbs fixed in time.

  5. Doll Diaries is not having Camp Doll Diaries this year. It was not a real camp that the dolls went to. You can go to Doll Diaries and search Camp Doll Diaries and you and Molly can do some of the crafts ant scene setups that are suggested. It was fun and I will miss it, but you can make your own camp.
