DIY - Julie Dancing Queen

I LOVE how amazing Julie looks in this LE outfit!

Being that this LE outfit is $64 *sigh* and I am on a BUDGET, I opted to save the money and re-create it for myself.

I bought the $5 disco ball from Party City.

*VIDEO*

I hope you like it!!

Nice job, Rhonda. Y'know, it would have been nice if AG had included a couple of more records for the sound accessories w/ this set. I was thinking about some "Dancing Queen" by ABBA as well. Oh and BTW...I got Julie's hair accessories. The dryer is cute, but the hair band are too tight! They aren't very stretchy and I couldn't even get them around small ponytails on Sunny's hair. They should have gone w/ clips, or actual hair ribbons.

  2. You did a great job, do you think you could try recreating some of the other sets to?

    1. Thanks, but I'm not sure. I don't have Rebecca or Kaya and their clothing is pretty detailed. Kit's items are similar to the Easter goodie already in my etsy shop. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of Kit's "pink" poly chiffon dress :-(

  3. Great job Rhonda! I don't have Julie but I sure would like her meet outfit as I had just about the same jeans and blouse as she comes in. I also had long, straight blond hair a lifetime ago. For Valentine's day my husband bought me her sound equipment, just like I had in my youth. Oh the memories they brought back! You did such a great job of recreating her outfit!!!!!

  4. LOVE this post. It's a great way to show how you can save money on things for dolls. The LE items are all out of our range too. My daughter just brought herself Isabelle and we are squirrling away money too for Kit (we already have Ruthie). This is a great idea. I'll have to remember it as a craft project for spring break or summer break. Thanks again and love you blog!

    1. Thank you. Party City always carries the disco ball so don't worry about missing out on it. Good luck with your summer project!!

  5. Hi! I just got my daughter Julie for Christmas. Do you have a pattern for the dress or did you just measure her body?

    1. Congrats on getting Julie - she is one of my favorites. I used an existing dress for a pattern and cut 1/2" larger. You can do this with a tank style dress or tank top cut longer, then adjust the hem on your doll.
