THEME PARK THURSDAY - Matterhorn Bobsleds

The Matterhorn Bobsleds was the first tubular steel roller coaster in the world when it opened in 1959 and can be found only in Disneyland. This attraction celebrated its 60th anniversary on June 14, 2019.

The real peril is not snow or sleet! Stories abound of a growling creature known as the Abominable Snowman—

THEME PARK THURSDAY - Ride the Disneyland Monorail

The Disneyland Monorail was the first daily operating monorail system in the Western Hemisphere. It is celebrated its 60th anniversary June 14, 2019.

Enjoy incredible, one-of-a-kind views on this classic 2.5-mile, 13-minute round-trip journey. Fly over Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, past the majestic Matterhorn Bobsleds. Glide over Grizzly Peak, Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure Park and the Downtown Disney District.

The Disneyland Monorail was the first transportation system of its kind in America. The current version combines the sleek styling of the 1959 classic with new technologies and subtle design changes, bringing a retro-futuristic look and contemporary feel to the timeless Disneyland icon.

Today, the Disneyland Monorail is comprised of the Red, Blue and Orange Mark VII trains. Because the system uses a 600-volt DC power source, it emits no direct exhaust or pollutants into the atmosphere.

THEME PARK THURSDAY - Disneyland Railroad

Walt Disney had a love of trains and various transportation systems. The Disneyland Railroad has four depot stations. Main Street, New Orleans Square, Toon Town and Tomorrowland.

The Disneyland Railroad features five steam engines along with four open-air cars easily identified by their red steel frames and striped awnings.

THEME PARK THURSDAY - Tomorrowland at Disneyland Resort

“A vista into a world of wondrous ideas, signifying man’s achievements … a step into the future, with predictions of constructive things to come. Tomorrow offers new frontiers in science, adventure and ideals: the Atomic Age, the challenge of outer space and the hope for a peaceful, unified world.”

The Disneyland Monorail was the first daily operating monorail system in the Western Hemisphere.

When the Submarine Voyage (now reimagined as Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage) first opened in 1959, live mermaids made a splash in the lagoon.

Star Tours is a motion simulator attraction, based on the successful Star Wars film series created by George Lucas.

Twice a year, Disney hosts Dapper Day at the parks. Sunday, April 19 was the spring Dapper Day event. Due to the park closure, it was canceled. That didn't stop me, and a lot of others, from posting our Dapper Day photos.

Vintage Disneyland Park Tickets and Disney Dollars

I'm so happy to have a collection of original Disneyland tickets and one book in tact. This was wise thinking on my dad's part. He saved all of these for me from our visits to the park.

Rumor has it paper fast passes are going away and going digital.

My mom won these Disney Dollars from a contest. They are series 1997.  $1 "Sorcerer Mickey" Disney Dollar. Other bills this year included  1997 $5 "Tuxedo Goofy" Disney Dollar. 1997 $10 "Lion King - Simba" Disney Dollar. They never expire.

THEME PARK THURSDAY Disneyland's New Orleans Square Tour

New Orleans Square is one of my favorite lands due to it's atmosphere. Creole music and food, beautiful architecture and an amazing view of the Rivers of America.

Guests will journey back in time to the golden age of pioneering and exploration on the Sailing Ship Columbia. The Columbia made its first voyage through the Rivers of America on June 14, 1958. This three-masted ship pays homage to the merchant ship that discovered the Columbia River. It also was the first American ship to circumnavigate the globe. Passengers may board the Columbia at Frontier Landing where they are greeted by the Captain. Once the ship is ready to set sail, passengers embark through the uncharted wilderness of the Rivers of America (Mississippi, Columbia, Potomac and Rio Grande rivers) where they will encounter wildlife and spectacular views that only Mother Nature could create. While on the expedition, guests may go below deck to experience firsthand how pioneers of yesteryear lived during their long voyages, and to view artifacts in the onboard maritime museum.

Oogie Boogie popcorn turner is out during the Halloween season.

My parents and I would eat breakfast here on our many visits to Disneyland.
