*Makeover* Gotz Doll Isabella, Sissel Skille 2008

My wonderful daughter bought this pre-loved 18" Gotz doll for me for $5 while thrifty shopping.

Her hair was a tangled mess, but combed out nicely. She is a slim body vinyl doll.

She has real upper lashes and rooted hair.

*In Store Report* Our Generation - Target

I visited this Target in Westminster, CO and stumbled upon this wonderful display! The store was a bit messy after the weekend, and several outfits were out of stock. Each outfit has their own hanging peg, with the name of the outfit listed above on a sticker. I tried to capture most of the merchandise, and any new things. I haven’t seen the school band set before this visit.

At this time, they don’t have any events planned at this store, or others in the United States.

*REVIEW* Wellie Wishers Hugs & Well Wishes Outfit

Wellie Wishers Hugs & Well Wishes Outfit $24
  • A bright-green hoodie with a sunny flower at the top of the pouch pocket
  • Soft, comfy pink joggers for relaxing
  • Pink shoes with flowers on the toes
  • A headband with felt flowers they made in the playhouse

This outfit is a made for 14" slim vinyl body dolls. Kim is a Style Dreamer Doll and it fits perfectly. I love mix and match pieces. The hoodie and joggers can each be paired with other pieces from other outfits.

Her hair is SUPER thick, I chose not to put the headband on.

The joggers have an elastic waistband, the hoodie zips in front, but does have a velcro closure in back. I bought this outfit at Kohl's.
It's cute, very well made and I recommend it for any 14" slim body doll.

*REVIEW* Blaire's Garden

The garden is one of Blaire’s favorite places on her family’s farm—full of vibrant color and edible flowers, it’s easy to find inspiration for new dishes or designs whenever she visits. Includes:
  • A raised garden structure with rich pretend soil, holes for an interchangeable set of plants to grow, plant markers, and a removable nesting box for chickens
  • Blaire’s favorite white Silkie chicken, Dandelion, or “Dandy” for short, and her nest with pretend eggs
  • A shovel Blaire can hold and use for digging, plus a watering can with flower art to keep plants hydrated
  • A basket to carry tools, freshly picked produce, or even newly laid eggs back to the restaurant

*REVIEW* God is Love 18" Doll Outfit - Marigold Market

I really love the Marigold Market spring collection!
These sets are perfect for 18" dolls. They will fit most 18" dolls.

The dress has velcro closure, the vinyl goulashes zip in back and the umbrella opens/closes with ease. I purchased a separate pair of glittery sneakers.

*REVIEW* Beatrice Alexander 90th Anniversary "Cissy" Doll

My friend Paul allowed me to photograph this very special LE collectible 90th Anniversary doll. I love this doll! She is a 21" Cissy dressed as Beatrice Alexander in all of her 1923 finery! Only 125 made, she cost $1500. She holds two play dolls because Beatrice believed that dolls were meant to be played with, not housed on a shelf. Porcelain dolls were all the craze during her time, and she set out to create plastic vinyl dolls that children could play with and not fear breaking.

Beatrice's birth name was Bertha.  Ahead of her time, she had a knack for licensing and merchandising. She created collections based on films, movie stars and heads of state.

Beatrice started her company with $1000 and grew her empire during a time when women were not business owners. She founded the first successful female owned doll company in the United States, long before Ruth Handler launched Barbie 1959. Madame Alexander set the gold standard in doll design with beautifully detailed clothing and was among the first to implement the "sleep eye" mechanism. The Ideal Toy Company claims to have made the first American "Sleep eyes" doll in 1914. While Horsman Dolls used sleep eyes and wigs in 1918.

In 1955 the Alexander Doll company produced its first fashion doll, "Cissy", four years before Barbie was released in 1959. The 21" Alexander Cissy doll is hard plastic with jointed elbows, wrists and knees. High heel feet, sleep eyes and wigged, the Cissy head mold is gorgeous. Clothing pieces are tagged "Cissy", she had hundreds of outfits produced for her.

Beatrice checking the quality of these Cissy dolls.

Unfortunately the Harlem factory was closed October 2012. The space was home to the Madame Alexander Heritage Gallery doll museum, a small store and the doll hospital.

This is all featured in the book Madame Alexander Dolls: An American Legend.
