DIY - Gardening Bench

I decided that Caroline needed a potting bench to go with this new gardening set.

I designed the potting bench and my husband built it for me.

We had everything already here at home except the legs for the bench which only cost a few dollars and had some wood left for a future project. The front legs are 7 and 1/4 inches high.  It is not the same as the American Girl Sunshine Gardening Bench.  I used 4 cup hooks.

The flower seed packets are printouts from Americangirlideas.com, as is the beehive and the instructions to make the beehive are on that blog.  The vegetable seed packets are from LADL!

  1. Paint it purple and it would be AG's sunshine gardening bench!

  3. Very cute and it looks very well made. I might have to try this in 1/6 scale!

  4. I bought the paint to paint it the colors of the AG bench but thought it looked more like a real bench left natural. Do you readers think it would look better painted or natural????

  5. Love it! Hubs and I have talked about doing the same thing but we have too many irons in the fire just now. Yours turned out so well!

  6. Beautiful. Because of current sale and $10.00 off coupon on $50.00 I just went ahead and purchased. My 5 year Olds loves the one A/G makes and She said She loves Yours. Great Job.

  7. I think that you should leave it natural. Your husband did a great job. How long did it take him? Madelon

  9. Great job! Just adorable. I think it is much more realistic in the the natural wood. I did not buy the AG one because of the color. I like yours more--it is like a real potting table.

Your ladybugs are a cute touch!

    1. No the bee hive is made from a $1.00 six sided box found at Joanne's or Michael. This is the bottom of the box, but you could make another one with the lid of the box. I cut and hot glued small dowels to make the handle. Instructions are at Americangirlideas along with the honeycomb background.
