RUMOR has it there will be a new modern character introduced February 2017. RUMORED to be named Tenny, a singer from Tennessee. Also a boy (possibly a little brother), Logan Everett. (Which would explain the Bitty Twin Retirement). No info on face mold yet and if Logan will be 16" or 18" tall.
That explains the name Tenney, short for Tennessee. I think the Bitty Twins were replaced by the Wellie Wishers not by a new line of boy dolls though, just my opinion. Thanks for posting. It will be an interesting 2017 for AG.
ReplyDeleteI agree, American Girl has been denying the existence of boy dolls for years now, I don't know why they would change so fast.
DeleteSales on boy dolls r skyrocketing
DeleteSales on boy dolls are skyrocketing
DeleteOOH! That sounds so cool! I'm a singer and Tenny sounds so cool!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe there will be a New Character along with goty 2017, beforever, bitty baby, & wellie wishers. Also more & more books. Trips to the store are going to get longer & longer. lol
ReplyDeleteIM FROM TENNESSEE LET THIS BE TRUE. Nashville AG store is going to be busy!!! I'm a little concerned though that Beforever is going to get smaller with barely anything in the store for them if another doll line is added with GOTY. Where are they going to put them? Chicago, Boston, DC, NY, LA, and Houston can probably handle it but some stores are so small it would be impossible unless they expanded the space.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that she will have books associated with her? Madelon
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the new Contemporary MG book series might be for her.
DeleteOh I do hope that the boy is an 18 inch! That would be so awesome! :)

I agree!
DeleteYessss
DeleteI think that Tenney from Tennessee is much too clichéd... More likely to be a code name. And I'm not excited about the prospect of a boy doll. AG is American GIRL, not boy! They'd have to change their whole name if they came out with a line of boy dolls...
ReplyDeleteBoys are a part of most girls' lives, whether as relatives, friends, or other adults like teachers, healthcare professionals, etc. Why deny the existence of boys? Why should girls only be interested in playing with other girls or girl dolls? I think acknowledging boys in the 18" doll world really could enhance play experiences. I hope AG introduces a boy. I'd buy him. My daughters would play with him and so would my son.
DeleteI have zero interest in a boy doll but I have a feeling this part of the rumor is true. I personally think he's going to be wellie wisher size.
DeleteI'm okay with just this one boy character doll (which I assume will also have additional outfits and accessories) but I would hate to see AG waste time/money/effort on a line of boy dolls.
Wow that's interesting. I hope Logan's 18 in. Though I honestly hate the name Tenny (no offense to anyone who likes her name). I assume it's short for Tennessee and I think that it's kinda weird for a parent to supposedly name their child after a state 😂
ReplyDeleteMy Nicene's name is Georgia and one of my best friends growing up was named Virginia and we called her Ginny for short. I don't think it's that weird to be named after a state...
DeleteMy concern with Tenny/Tennessee is that it sound too much like Hannah Montana to me.
I have to agree with the comment about naming a kid after a state. I have a state name and I hate it. When I was growing up I was subjected with unnecessary comments about my name. It wasn't fun.

ReplyDeleteOne thing I noticed while looking at the trademarks is that they have different last names. The trademarks are for Tenney Grant and Logan Everett.
ReplyDeleteSo if they're family are they going to be half siblings/step siblings/a blended family?!? I wonder if that situation will be a major part of their stories.
I think people are under the assumption that girls don't want to play with boy dolls. I can't tell you how many times that GI Joe had to step in as a date for Barbie because she dumped Ken. My friends as a child were both male and female.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be fun for there to be a boy doll.
ReplyDeleteI have a son & her often asks for a boy doll because his sister loves playing with her doll so much and if little brother wants to play, he has to play what big sister is playing! I hope it's a WW because I don't think that phase will last long but it would still be nice to have an option.
ReplyDeleteI think the name Tenney is fine as long as the doll doesn't live in Tennessee. It's like naming your kid Georgia when you live in Georgia...I'm really hoping it's just a code name. As for the boy dolls, I know where you're all coming from in that the brand is American GIRL, but I think a boy doll could create a unique learning experience for girls to get a different point of view.
ReplyDeleteHere is what I think about Tenney. First, I believe that Tenney might just be a name that his hiding the GOTY's real name (if that makes any sense). Possible story #1. Her story could be that her mom got divorced or something and remarried to someone with a son and they have to move to Tennessee. Then Tenney's brother (whether he is older or younger) opens her up to country music. Possible story #2. Her dad passes away and her mom's new husband and Logan come to live with them. Tenney plays country music because that's what makes her feel closer to her dad and not miss him so much.
ReplyDeleteI know someone pretty well that LOVES dolls. She's older but has so many dolls. I KNOW she wouldn't not be happy if there was a boy doll and I could just see her being so upset and talking about it with her daughter and granddaughter. Although some people wouldn't be happy about the possible new boy doll, there's other that would be okay with it. I don't think American Girl would have to change their name or would be changing much about them, but they would just be introducing boys into American Girl Doll's lives. The world isn't just full of girls. There's boys and young girls need to see that everyone is important and believe that this would be a good way to show that and not just the dolls with have different heritages.
We just bought a Tenney book at Barnes and Noble yesterday, so I'm pretty sure that's her real name. I'm not opposed to a boy doll, but I don't think many girls will want to have a boy doll. I'd rather they would have kept an inspiring (Upstate New York!!) doll Caroline than have a boy!
