I stopped by Michael's and couldn’t resist buying a new CREATOLOGY doll there "Modern Girls". I bought the one named Madeleine. She is an 18 inch
doll with the sweetest face and blond hair and blue eyes. Her price is
$24.99 and I had a 50% off coupon. The coupon brought the
price down to $12.49 plus tax.
She is so cute, but has some drawbacks.
She weighs less than AG and has to lean slightly forward to stand up,
(but so do some of my AG dolls).
AG and Modern Girls can wear each other’s clothes. Her meet outfit is nicely made and comes with rubber or plastic shoes, no underwear.
Her hair is cut funny, uneven, smooth
on one side and choppy on the other. Because her hair is rooted
instead of a wig, when her hair is in pigtails, the back of her head
shows her scalp.
Her waist is about ½ to 1 inch smaller than AG.
I also bought the red cheer leading
outfit priced $14.99. With another 40% coupon that brought the
price down to $8.99 plus tax.
Michael's also has other clothes for her,
including PJ’s, a soccer outfit and several others, all priced $14.99.
They also have a two pack of formal wear. I am not sure of the price,
maybe $19,99. The Springfield dolls were marked down clearance to
$12.99. Springfield’s two pack formals were marked down to $11.99. The
other clothes seemed to be regular price.

Thank you for the review. She is a pretty doll. As her waist is smaller than AG, do her clothes fit AG dolls?
ReplyDeleteYes they do fit AG dolls. The last picture shows AG Caroline with The Creatology cheer leading outfit, Madeleine, the Creatology doll with AG Saige's outfit and the last picture is AG McKenna in Madeleine's(Creatology doll) meet outfit.
ReplyDeleteI had just bought Bethany AKA Kaylee and I had to use my 50% OFF Coupon before it expire her hair is in two Afro puffs and as much as I don't like her hair has a permanent part all the way down the back of her head but I'm kinda glad it does because she can wear two ponytails without any hair showing as for Dana AKA Madison from Springfield Collection doll her hair can't do that and I did pick and brushed Bethany's hair and only a little shedded but as for Dana her hair has shedded a lot and I had to cut her ends because they was too nappy and as for Bethany all her hair is soft from roots to ends she has good quality hair but my My Life As doll has the best hair out of those 3.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review. Madeline is really pretty. I'll have to watch for the coupons - this would make a great Toys for Tots donation (with an added outfit or two, of course)!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this! I saw these dolls in Michael's this week, and I was tempted to make a purchase and check them out myself, but I was pretty sure I could count on LADL to fill me in, and I was right. You guys have everything covered. This is just what I was looking for. Great review Linda!
ReplyDeleteFor the price I think they're lovely compared to the +$95 American girl. I was so happy to find this review because I've been trying to find the best 18 inch doll similar to the American girl for less because I can't afford an American girl. All the drawbacks are things I can easily live with. I grew up with three American girls but gave them away because I thought I was "too cool" for it. Now, as a long time doll collector, I miss my American girl. I wish I could afford another. The modern girl doll seems like a lovely alternative for a price I can manage. Thank you for showing me the pros and cons of the doll in comparison
ReplyDeleteMadeleine looks like an 18" version of the 14" Paola Reina Los Blanditas Conchi doll! They could be sisters. Gorgeous face and a great price. Love this review.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me how the hair on the Creatology dolls holds up to brushing over time? Does it get too tangled to brush? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI actually put oil .and it does miracles
DeleteNo, it's horrible. I have the same doll and I actually found this blog while trying to figure out how to fix this hair. It was such a cute doll!
DeleteI would like to know if you wanted to cut its hair so it was a boy how would you do that?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing. Has anyone tried this?
