*In Store Report* Our Generation Store - Costa Rica

Last month, I emailed Battat Co. about the Our Generation store located in the Multiplaza shopping mall in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Our Generation Store, Muliplaza San Jose, Costa Rica.

Our Generation store, Multiplaza San Jose, Costa Rica.

Prices are high $40 - $50 USD for a doll, the store carries clothing sets, accessories, vehicles and girls size matching outfits. Rumor is there is also a cafe, though I can't confirm this.

OG Salon and Design area, Multiplaza San Jose, Costa Rica.

Sabias que en Multiplaza tenemos una tienda en la que podés diseñar, vestir y peinar a tus muñecas.

I have not received an answer from Battat Co. I had to do some digging and investigation myself. It is unclear if this is the first of a new franchise venture or if it will make it's way to other countries. Currently OG is sold through Target stores in USA, but will no longer be available in Canada.

If any of my readers in Costa Rica, more specifically San Jose have seen or shopped in this OG store or have any additional information, please comment below or send an email :

  5. wow very cool, thanks for the update! I can't believe how expensive the dolls are considering their quality, but I suppose there's nothing else like it in Costa Rica. The store looks very well done, I wonder how much the larger items such as the car and camper go for there...

    1. *From Julie's doll mom:*

Oh come on, now. That's like saying McDonald's is the only place that's allowed to sell hamburgers, and no one else is allowed to have a fast-food chain of restaurants. Any doll company can have specialty stores if they want to, but it's my guess that most don't want to b/c they want to appeal to the average consumer and keep their prices fairly reasonable. If they had stores here in the US, their prices would go up b/c they'd have to pay for the building, and employees. If we want to keep getting OG clothing, furniture and accessories at decent prices, don't wish for stores like AG.

    2. If we want to get really grumpy about this, you could also say that AG stole the idea for stores from Build A Bear too. I guess only one clothing store, one shoe store, one jewelry store, one bookstore, etc is all we should have too?

    3. LOL, these comments. :D I completely agree. AG is not the only doll company. Actually, if you're going to say that anyone copied someone else, you should say that AG copied Madame Alexander.
And technically, AG doesn't even have a store in Costa Rica.

  7. I would go to an Our Generation store, for sure! I really like their stuff, the quality of it and the prices. I do prefer American Girl's clothes most of the time, though and shoes. However the things that are on my list from Our Generation are: the washer and dryer set, and the sewing set. However, I've never seen them in person or been able to buy them online through Target. I'm beginning to think they're like a unicorn. We've heard about them and even seen pictures but no one's ever seen one in person. LOL! Just kidding, I'm sure there are people that have those sets, but I've trying for a year and have had no luck. And I won't pay secondary market prices either. I'm excited about Our Generation's store regardless of where it is! We have lots of OG stuff and especially like the retro line. :)

  8. there stuff looks so much nicer in a store like this than just piled in with Target toys.

  9. I like this store. The shelves are filled and that child mannequin is startlingly lifelike.

I agree with Julie's Mom, OG isn't copying AG their products are not carbon copies, but adjusted to give us quality toys with similar themes at prices the average person can afford.

To Rebecca...I hear you. I live in near Philly and we don't have an AGP either. You;d think the birthplace of America would warrant one. Yes, NYC and DC are close, but still there is a principle involved here. :)

    Congratulations, Costa Rica!

  10. Our Generation IS available in Canada. Mastermind Toys sells them.

  11. I was going to say the same thing. Mastermind Toys--which are popping up all over Canada--carries Our Generation and pretty complete line. While there might not be as much available as a US Target, there is certainly more than was ever carried in any of the Canadian Targets I ever visited. My local ones had extremely limited stock when they had stock at all. It looked like a very sad, empty aisle. It certainly was't the only aisle like this, which was definitely one the reasons that Target couldn't make money in Canada.

Anyways, Mastermind Toys' prices are similar and the line is pretty extensive online (not certain about inshore)--you can even get the new retro diner and cruiser! And, right now, Holiday Harper is selling for $14.99 since she is considered Christmas stock. 50% off! And, if you spent $60 online, then you can have the toys shipped for free (in Canada). Worth checking out, Canadian OG fans....
