American Girl Books by DK Publishers

American Girl: Ultimate Visual Guide and  American Girl®: Ultimate Sticker Collection from book publisher DK. These title were published as a result of a new partnership between DK and American Girl®  to create an exclusive collection of nonfiction books for children to launch in fall 2016.

DK's fully illustrated reference book tells the fascinating story of American Girl, from the original idea conceived by founder Pleasant T. Rowland to the development of its bestselling doll lines including Truly Me, Girl of the Year, Bitty Baby, and the beloved historical character line BeForever. Never-before-published anecdotes from the American Girl team abound each page, along with insider information about how the dolls are created, from concept to market.

Did you know?
  • Pleasant T. Rowland came up with the idea for American Girl during a trip to Colonial Williamsburg.
  • A German doll company named Götz made the original American Girl dolls, and the same face mold is still used today.
  • Creating a new American Girl takes time--up to two years for a Girl of the Year and as many as three years for a BeForever character.
  • Over 750,000 dolls have been cared for at the Doll Hospital.

Each spread captures the whole range of American Girl dolls, including the 2016 Girl of the Year™, Lea Clark, and newest BeForever addition, Melody Ellison. Profiles of each doll’s history, lifestyle, and outfits will make this a treasured addition to every American Girl fan’s bookshelf.
