*RUMORS* WW, TM and GOTY Lea

Later... it's RUMORED that the WellieWishers will be available at Kohl's and TRU and GOTY16 Lea will soon be available at Kohl's.

Rumor there's both a red haired TM and brown haired TM doll that  will be added to the TM lineup

Rumor is there will be a customizing option on specific TM dolls to order that includes an AG magazine with girl/doll photo on cover to print out in store, (next year).

We will be watching for more about these rumors.

  2. I am under the impression that Lea and the Wellie Wishers may not be meeting the projected sales. Most of the time when major companies partner up like this it signifies over production or a dip in sales. This might be okay for Lea because she is a GOTY doll, but I am not sure this is a good sign for Wellie Wishers which launched not too long ago. Maybe this will encourage the company to produce more historical doll items. What is the saying....if it ain't broke don't try t fix it. The historical dolls seem to be a recipe for success even after years they are still relevant nd selling well even on the secondary market.

  4. Ok so three rumors I would say rumor #2 is absolutely true and will happen in a soon to be release this year. Rumor #3 has a high probability of also being true since a "surprise" in the Truly Me line is coming in 2017 they need something to move those dolls with out reducing the price. So that leaves us with Rumor #1 which in my opinion is unlikely. That is my predictions from my crystal ball...LOL :-)

  5. Let me look at Rumor #1 more closely! I see it more clearly 50% probability the Wellie Wishers would be at Kohl's but if Lea is she would be higher priced then AG store so not sure that makes sense. So I say this one has a 50% of high probability. ;-)

    1. Its more likely she and Addy will show up at Costco since Caroline made an appearance last year.

  6. When I became a customer almost 4 years ago,I wouldn't have ever imagined this idea of Kohls having American Girl Brand Products. I don't even shop at Khols, becasue I spend all my money at American Girl Brand Doll Place. Once they do this the Brand will no longer be prestigious at all.

    1. I agree with you Maxine, I think it will take the whole experience away too. Definitely not a fun experience to take your daughter to Kohls to pick out a doll...just wouldn't be special.

    2. I agreed. Someone has lost touch with American Girl Brand Doll Reality.

    3. Our nearest AGP is 4-5 hours away, in Massachusetts. Our nearest Kohl's is 15 minutes away. Would I prefer to have an AGP right here in town? Absolutely! But taking my kids to Kohl's or Costco to get to "pick out" a doll would be pretty great. What I would save in travel costs I could spend on doll stuff! Most people have never, will never, get to have the AGP experience. But I think the local stores could create nice space for AG merchandise. The pictures I've seen at pop-up stores and at the NEX look well done.

    4. It is all about the bottom line. And they don't seem to mind cheapening the brand. If anyone is a Mattel shareholder please let them know your opinion on all the plastic junk and distribution mis steps. The AG store and catalog is part of what makes the toy special. We are not buying a doll but a story that is told visually as well as with the books. That and the former quality and intricate details that exisisted pre Mattel and for a time afterwards. If these things are missing there will no longer be any reason to justify the price. And honestly I believe this is why sales have dropped.

    5. Jennvay, I totally agree with you! I have a Kohl's close by, but I'd rather drive hours to Columbus If that meant that AG would just be AG like it used to be.

  7. They have already started this idea in the AG kits and books at Michaels & Costco. Today at Walmart I saw the mega block sets of Grace, Nicki, and McKenna. I feel that once they start having the names show up at the discount stores it already reduces the prestige of the product. Sharon

    1. I agree with you 100%. I was ok, Seeing the Maga Blocks at Target, because they sell the books and Mini's but not Walmart or next maybe Walgreens or the Gas Station Store. Oh no!!!!!!

  8. Homegoods sold a few American Girl pets . I guess I should have been more surprised, but I wasn't. Lots of changes for AG. Not sure if I doubt these rumors to be true. So far most of the rumblings have panned out to be golden.

  9. I have seen American Girl crafts at Kohls but it is not the place for Lea. I agree it is best to keep the dolls in house. Although Costco or SAMs sold Caroline. Madelon

  10. I wouldn't discount this rumor. I was surprised when Caroline and a few other AG items showed up in Costco.

    1. Loved seeing Caroline at CostCo (after) retirement. I got one at the Syore and 1 at Costco so smart. But only because She was retired.

  11. Also, Kohls prices tend to be high to start. How much would Lea be at Kohl's do you think? Madelon

  12. So many changes & so fast! Seems like American Girl is spreading out all over the place, & I worry that quality will decrease as production increases... I know a lot of people will be thrilled with the option to order custom dolls, but I will be overwhelmed by it. I'd end up with way too many dolls... again... I just recently thinned my collection out. Also it would take away the fun of seeing new dolls come out. Then again, I want Chrissa so maybe I can just have one made like her... Who knows what AG has planned next? But I know I plan to get that new red haired doll ;)

  13. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-american-girl-welliewishers-doll-20160721-story.html

Here is what is happening. Mattel has already strayed too far from the core brand. So they rebranded and it didn't work.

  14. And the competition is coming on strong! I was at Target today and their OG section has expanded to 2 aisles (4 sides of merchandise) All the products we have seen reviewed here were in stock at the same time. There were even glass display cases of scenes set up using dolls, accessories and the big ticket items. Linda G

    1. I heard the same thing, additional it was all on sale. So Target is doing and doing it well!!!!!! I still prefer America Girl but Target is even smart enough to offer free shopping on items above 25.00 American Girl haa expensive Shopping.

    2. Wow really? I hope my Super Target does this for Christmas! Heck, next year they might even end up with a "shop within a shop" section.
