This happened to my granddaughter's MLA doll when she wore the Springfield black ruffled tank top that came with the leopard velore skirt. I wish doll clothing manufacturers would line all dark colored clothing. These marks do not come off with a magic eraser. I'm going to try some oxy blemish cream.Fawn
When you find out what to get it off, post it on here. I had the same problem with a dress of ebay, that I kept on Caroline a long time. All over her neck and arms.
Oxy blemish cream does work I have tried it myself on many stained dolls. Hope that helps!!
Try using Twin Pine of Maine doll stain cleaner Remove-Zit. Madelon if you bought the doll at Walmart I would return her, that is too any stains. Diana
It takes some weeks, but application of the blemish cream will remove the stain. Just be sure to apply the cream only to the stained area. I use cotton swabs and tooth picks wrapped in cotton to make sure the cream only goes on the stained areas. I apply it, let it dry, wait a couple of days, wipe off with a damp washcloth, and repeat. It can take weeks or a couple of months of treatments, but the results are great! I've had success with old dolls from eBay that people were practically giving away because of the stains. Good luck, Madelon!
Marcia is right, blemish cream is the only thing to help in removing these stains. I also let the cream on for 1 or 2 days and after removing the stain looks the same. But after a while it disappears.
This happened when I bought an 18 inch doll clothing item on Ebay. Stained my favorite doll from my childhhood. I had her so long and to have that happen brought me to tears. OXY, OXY OXY. Leave it on the doll's staines, wrap in cling wrap and leave the doll alone for a few days. Wipe off and repeat until you see them start to fade, then repeat. I left my doll in the corner of my bedroom on a shelf that doesn't recieve a lot of natural light and she turned out as good as new. THIS WORKS!
Thank you all so much for your advice! I couldn't believe that a new doll would come this way. I don't only buy American Girl clothes (who can afford that), but I will be more wary of dark colors now. Madelon
black navy and red all bad for dolls
So glad this is being addressed!!!!!!!! The Halloween Clothes from Walmart really cant be left in more then a few hours. I had it happen with Both Walmart and Dollandme. Heart breaking and Baking Soda does noting not even Clorex Wipes.
I had the same problem with a Journey Girl doll from TRU and used Oxy10, as mentioned above, but I put my doll out in the sun on a table in the back yard. After 3 treatments, she was good as new!
Remove-Zit from TwinPines.com is probably the strongest to get off stains but watch out that it doesn't melt plastic (usually not an issue with soft vinyl so I think it would be ok for MLA and OG dolls) but certain hard plastic fashion doll bodies get eaten up by Remove-Zit)10% benzoyl peroxide pimple cream (such as Oxy10) is gentler but takes longer You may want to wash dark doll clothes before dressing them on dolls. Cold water wash is fine I wash my fashion doll clothes in Twin Pines Perk Detergent (and also use Booost brightener if the clothes are white)...you can just put the cleaners, cold water and doll clothes in a lidded mason jar, shake them up, leave overnight and rinse out in cold water (run it til the rinse water is clear) then air dry the clothes. Some people also add a step of adding either vinegar or salt to cold water and soaking the clothes to try to fix the dye so it doesn't run and stain the doll again before the final rinse and air drying.Another trick is to wrap the doll in saran wrap so if the clothes are going to be on the doll for a long time, any dye will transfer to the saran wrap.
