*NEWS* Sneak Peek at AG Spring + *RUMORS*

New Spring Sneak Peek's are on Pinterest.

Ah the "rumor mill".....there seems to be something new for Beforever characters EXCEPT Caroline and Josefina this month (Feb 12th). It has been months that LADL has been watching for updates on Josie and even though AG reportedly said they WILL NOT archive her, we have seen NOTHING new for Josie.

RUMOR has it there are new outfits for Addy plus matching girls outfits.

Kaya LINK

As mentioned before a new red-toned outfit for Kaya with yellow and blue beading, Kit gets a "chicken coop outfit" that comes with a plush chicken and a matching girls outfit. Julie's rumored to get a skateboarding set and a matching girls outfit, (do we NEED another skateboarding set??? Ugh).

Also a new swimsuit for Rebecca with matching dress for girls.
 LINK

Samantha LINK

Sam is wearing one of those rumored dresses. Alpha girl Samantha is still rumored to get a gazebo, a summer treats set along with a table and chair set, a new travel coat, flower picking set, painting set, and a dress with matching girls outfit.

No word on a new meet outfit for MyAG (Truly Me)! Rumors are MyAG gets a mix and match ballet outfit (again do we NEED another ballet outfit?? Ugh). A gardening set, a jazz dance outfit and new soccer outfit (ditto - yawn).

  1. I'm LOVING the Addy outfit, and the Kit one is adorable! Not sure how historically accurate Rebecca's is though. Can't wait for it all to come out!

  2. Amazing dress for Kaya. She looks great in this dress, the beadwork is beautiful! I am sooooo adding this to my list of things. Samantha's dress is pink again, but just in time for Valentines Day and reminds me of her Spring dress which was from her 1st run. There is something off about Kit's outfit with the color of the overalls...and pink sherbert colored buttons. The shirt and head piece is really cute, but overalls made of jean material wouldve been better. However, Ive been waiting for new sets for awhile now, so Im just happy Beforever has new stuff. Plus, the plush chicken sounds great and in my mind it is awesome...no pressure AG. Can't wait to see if the Samantha summer treats and table set will be on point. :)

  3. Waaaaa! We wanna see Julie's outfit too!

*From Julie's doll mom:* Julie calm down, we'll see it soon enough. I hope these "special edition" outfits don't mean "super expensive"! The new outfits are really cute, especially Kaya's. But oh Samantha...too much pink!

BTW...I wonder if Julie's skateboarding outfit will be inspired by the California skateboard looks of OP and Hang Ten? I was a fan of those polos w/ the cool graphics and corduroy shorts. Hopefully some real gym shorts at least. And maybe the skateboard will actually have surfer graphics on the TOP w/ bigger wheels and smaller trucks. I just hope she doesn't get stuck w/ a banana board. (yes, I was into skateboarding back in the day).

  4. Loved them all except Rebecca. Her outfit was plain old ugly, and I was expecting something more elegant and beautiful. I mean you look at all of her elaborate dresses with dainty colors, and lace; and then you see the new pink and purple mess. What even? I agree with a lot of people that the outfit does not look historically accurate, but like an exercise outfit.

  5. I know everyone dislikes Samantha's new outfit because it is pink, but personally I love it! The lace detailing is so gorgeous, and the pattern is darling. I really want to put this outfit on my Elizabeth!

  7. Initial reactions: I love Kit's new outfit!!! So cute, much more adorable than I expected. <3 I love Addy's dress is also very lovely. Samantha's dress is OKAY but not my favorite. Probably won't be purchasing that. Oh no! SPECIAL EDITION?! :(. Well, I liked them before the price was possibly cranked up to $68+...

  8. Am I the only one who is annoyed by the colors within Kit's clothing line? Okay, these new overalls have pink buttons with blue and white fabric. Even if they changed the color if the buttons to white, there woulld still be some mix and match play value. Im thinking 90s or late 80s Wham colors. Dont get me started on Rebecca's new sea...what is this! What is going on with these colors? I understand colors and that brown, blue and plain colors are not maybe whats in style, but still, what is going on?

    1. No, you are not. I've outright asked AG for their historical sources on color and they will only say they methodically researched ... um, what, coloring books?

    2. Thanks Nonna. Its good to know others notice this. Love the idea of the clothes, not too crazy about the vibrant crayola colors. As a graduate of history it makes me cringe. As a fan of dolls and their collections its cute and needs time to get used to.

  9. Kit's is adorable! I love how the blue overalls match her eyes. I personally like Rebecca's, I'm just not sure how historically accurate it is with the vibrant colors, but I think it is very cute. I love pink, but I'm not crazy about Samantha's outfit- The color is nice, but I think the pattern is a little odd. The words "special edition" scare me, that chicken will definitely come with a cost... I will be in the store on Friday to see everything in person, cant wait!

  10. My daughter and I like Kit's and Addy's best. Can't wait to see the chicken! I wonder what will come with Addy's sewing set? I do like Samantha's but wish they added more lace on the skirt of the dress, like the child skirt.

  11. Please tell me they accidentally put Rebecca in a new My AG outfit. I think it's adorable, but 1914? No. If they removed the bill from the cap and chose a muted color like black, brown, or navy, it would be perfect--very Sonora Webster (famous horse diver). This is a super cute modest sports/ swim outfit for modern dolls, but as a historical piece, it just makes me cry.

  12. I love Kaya's i was hoping for something more modern but still traditional since I love Kaya modern but my daughter wants her historical ... This will make us both happy... ( It is her doll after all LOL)

  13. I love the outfits for Addy, Kit and Kaya :)
Does anyone if there's coming a new outfit for Josefina?

  14. I love Kit's outfit, I can see that going on my must have list. That swimsuit for Rebecca-I know that bathing suits of that era were very modest, but the color scheme is wrong and ugly to boot! I'll be surprised if they sell any of those, I think we can wait for that one to hit the Cyber Monday sale next year!

  15. I just saw the full outfits on Pinterest- Addy's and Kaya's definitely win out as complete sets- too bad I don't have either of those dolls. I HATE Rebecca's boots, though I do like that the outfit comes with a chair. Julie's looks pretty boring to me. I can definitely wait for these to go on sale, but I won't cry if they don't.

  16. What about Josefina? She is not only missing from this release but was missing in last springs release as well. When was the last time Josefina truly had a new outfit? Even the "new" meet outfit is only a slight variation on her previous outfit; not a whole new revamp like the other dolls. Please tell me she is not being retired.

It seems that AG is picking out colors for the girls' outfits first and then seeing how they can be incorporated into the historical characters' wardrobe. That being said, I do like Kit finally having something she could climb up to a treehouse. Rebecca's outfit style is accurate just wish it was navy blue or black like we see in historical photos. Kaya's outfit is beautiful! And nice to see a color for her instead of the light blues and white they have used in the past. Samantha, well sorry girl, looks like pink again.

    1. That was my question. Josefina got no mini and you're right her new meet outfit wasn't really that different. Well, just a new sash and skirt anyway. I'm very surprised there's nothing new for Caroline. All I can think is that they're trying to keep the surprise factor by only showing almost every new outfit and then having customers show up at the AGP and see that in fact Caroline and Josefina do have something, you know? That would be nice. I'll be there Thursday to check it out. I'm not sure how I feel about these outfits. I'll have to see them in person and if there's nothing new for Josie than I've got a list of MAG stuff than. Hmmm...Samantha definitely has pink again. Maybe they're trying to have each of the girl's have a signature color?

  17. Reading through comments of both of the Spring release posts, I noticed a common theme (again) about color. We had this discussion last year about vibrant colors, in particular Kit's teal meet dress. I was reminded of a comment left a couple of weeks ago from a 12 year old reader's perspective on color. She made great points.

As a blogger I try (most of the time) to remain objective, as a doll lover it isn't always easy. I think there are two sides to every coin and I would be interested to see what kind of response there is to her comment. I'll link it, but will paste it below to keep it contained within this post. http://livingadollslife.blogspot.com/2015/01/review-disney-classic-friends-mickey.html?showComment=1422121005204#c9108567039211789000

  18. Her comment:

I was just watching some reaction to beforever videos, yes I sort of live in the past lol, and I was reading some comments and most of them were from adults. They were all basically complaining about how they hate what they're doing to the company, or, my least favorte one, they're ruining the company and 'destroying' ' everything, but they have to remember that american girl is especially for little girls, and they did this change to the line to celebrate girls. Now, being a little girl myself,(12), I love the line. They have to remember that american girl is not all about the collectors, as they have to make things that sell. So they made beforever so girls could be more imaginative while playing with their dolls, and that seems to be working pretty well. Excuse my rant, even though it is totally off topic, I just wanted to remind some of you doll collectors out there that us girls havent been around long enough to know how ag portrayed Samantha, Molly, Kirsten, Felicity, Kit, etc. to be, and we enjoy the beforever line and all of the colors and the teal, yellow, pink, (even though I am not particularly a fan of pink), purple, etc. and AG isnt going to stay the same forever. Thanks for reading my extra long comment if you did lol. :D

    1. Well said. It is your time and you are right to enjoy it. American Girl came out when I was 6 years old and I have loved their company ever since. It is hard to let go of something that has been apart of your world and has helped form your character like a company such as AG. You have to remember that, for collectors like me, growing up in the late 80s that was all we really had. Video games targeted mostly boys and it was a world of boyhood themes in the world of books. Baby dolls were the rage and then came Pleasant Company. I hated reading and then came Samantha and her Victorian
/ Edwardian world and I was hooked that was a first for girls of my generation. Yes, now it is time to pass the torch, but it is hard to let go sometimes and make way for the new and all of the bold colors that are fun and exciting to young girls now. Please enjoy all the new items and best of all have fun with history and your dolls. :)

  19. Oh hey, look it's all the modern girl sized clothes from the beforever game!
    Now,my thoughts: *curtains open up*

Addy: Cute I guess. But it really just looks like her 5 other dresses. Also, that's the same dress from the Addy's mancala game!

Kit: That is much better than last time! Yes, we still have pink but we also have blue and other colors too! It's also much more kit like and if it's not $64, I might actually get it when it comes out.

Rebecca: Nice to see they're bringing back the beach chair/swimsuit sets. Although Rebecca's swimsuit is hideous. Maybe no the colors but just the style/cut of the dress.

Kaya: okay 1) That looks like a totally different Kaya doll, so glad I have my old Kaya from before BF. 2) I love it! The red is really cute and I am so getting this one.

Samantha- Her dress is ok. Like you said- ditto. Just another pink piece.

  20. I agree with the little girl.. Since I buy the dolls for my daughter (yeah right!) I know that the vibrant colors are certainly more appealing for them. And by making the dolls and accessories more appealing they girls will become more interested on the doll stories and the actual historical periods. So besides being a great marketing strategy I also think its a great way to make the girls interested in studing history. And the clothes are super cute! Im really in love with Rebecca's and Kit's. The girls version are also adorable. Im sure Ill have a really hard time choosing the stuff to buy next week in agp NY!! This is such an expensive addiction!!

  22. It's exceedingly distressing tha one can no longer look at pintrest without logging in. When I was first introduced to pintrest you could see and search without having an account. Now every time I try I get dialogue boxes blocking the view. HMPF!

Now to the nitty gritty...I LOVE Kaya's new dress. I'm very interested in the accessories and if they will be a bit more accurate than the drum with the jingle dress. It's gorgeous and does resemble dresses I have seen on powwows.com. Plus it goes with the hair set that is currently available for her.

Rebecca's swim costume...just because they give a character a color palette does not meant that they should make everything for that character in those colors. While the styling of the costume isn't too bad, the colors are atrocious. So is the bill on the cap.

Kit - sadly, I have given up on Kit ever being accurate like she was in the beginning. She has way too many clothes. Anyone watch The Waltons? The kids had a few outfits and when they came home from school they either put on denim overalls or and apron to do their chores.

Julie...I'm interested in seeing her skateboard outfit. My first skateboard was a small oval with metal wheels - if it's like that I'd be happy. Also I agree with Sharry in hoping the outfit is either OP or Hang Ten inspired. It must have the striped knee socks or "tube socks" to go with it though and if there are pads and a helmet I'll dry foul. That kind of safety equipment wasn't widespread (if heard of) back then.
