Where's Willow? - West Virginia (Day 3)

Emily, Corinne and Cathleeen had to go back to school today so I got up early with them.

What a day this has been!!!  I could hardly wait for the girls to get home from school so I could tell them all about it.

We started our day with a tour of the new sanctuary at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Hedgesville, Berkeley County, WV.

10 Franz Mayer stained glass windows adorn the walls.  Doesn't the Baby Jesus look sweet.  These, plus the alter, marble walls and flooring, and woodwork were all repurposed from the demolished St. Claire Chapel of St. Vincents Hospital in New York.

A very pretty rose garden grows outside.

We had lunch at the Country Inn in Berkeley Spring, Morgan County, WV.  Berkeley Springs is famous for its warm mineral springs. President George Washington came to the springs to "take the waters" which were known for their healing powers.

Here I am standing in front of his bath tub.  I wonder if he ever used Mr. Bubbles?

I did a double take on the way home when  I thought I saw a large green, yes I said green, gorilla!  My host mom chuckled when I said I couldn't believe my eyes!

Sure enough I was right! The owner of the store said people stop by all the time to have their pictures taken with the big guy!

The last stop on the way home was the new Hedgesville Public Library.  What a great kid's library they have!

My favorite part was the dollhouse.

My host mom thought I might enjoy reading a book by Laura Ingalls Wilder about her childhood on the Prairie.  She was right.  I think I'll check out that book when I get back home.

Have you ever seen a teddy that large?  He was so soft and cuddly.  I was pretty tired by then and almost feel asleep in his arms. I think it will be another early night for me.  I hope I don't dream of green gorillas!

P.S. I know you and your minis would love the doll house.

It only had one bedroom and a nursery so the girls would have to share but I don't think they would mind.

I especially loved all the wallpaper and the wall and floor tiles in the kitchen and bathroom.

I could have played there all day.

    1. The school bus was a collection box at WalMart for school supplies. I contacted them and asked if I could have the box when they were finished with it. They said yes! When I was finished with my photoshoot I passed it along to a Head Start program at a local school. The teachers said the kids loved it.
