DIY - Josefina Skirts, Sash, Shawl - Sewing Pattern

I love Josefina!
I have very little for her, but I want to see what will be new for her in the spring. In this post I wanted to speak directly to the younger readers (those in school with no job). I know we ALL want what AG has in store for our dolls and it can be tricky trying to decide which items to get with either birthday or holiday money.

I want to encourage you to learn to sew! I have made Josefina three new skirts, a lot of her sets are patterned skirts paired with a Camisa. You can print patterns for Josefina HERE.

I found $1.99 fabric quarters at Joann's, (they sell them at Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, Hancock's and other fabric stores).  I used Josefina's meet skirt as a guide and created three new skirts for her. I used left over fabric to make sashes and a shawl.

This lime fabric is actually a TOWEL from the Dollar Tree!

I made a reversible sash.

Other skirts I have made:

Using scraps of leftover fabric, I added a border along the bottom then trimmed the skirt in grosgrain ribbon.

I made this skirt and both Spanish pom pom hats, (mini Samantha wears a vintage Barbie skirt).

Get as creative as you like! Ask your mom, grandma or aunts for leftover fabrics, then use what you like to make beautiful one-of-a-kind (OOAK) skirts.

  2. I don't have Josephina, but I have made two Spanish looking skirts and a peasant blouse. My Nikki will be wearing one for Doll-o-ween. I really like the ones you made.

  3. Hi Rhonda,
I was wondering where to find the fabric to make these home made outfits. As of right now I have gone through my local JoAnns multiple times and have not found anything even CLOSE to the print for Josie's Christmas gown. I have the pattern and would rather make it myself (so I can use the scraps to make a dress for Nina like in the book). Where else can I look?
